A trainer from Pokémon GO recently shared his own success on Reddit: He reached level 35 within 2 months and caught only one type of Pokémon.
What type did the trainer catch? “naonpikachu”, as the trainer is called in the game, apparently likes Pikachu. Looking at his PokéDex, it shows only the entry for Pikachu and Raichu. He does not have any other Pokémon.
Now the player has reached level 35 in Pokémon GO. An impressive level, considering he only took 2 months and caught hardly any Pokémon.
How the trainer still reached level 35
How did the player level up? On Reddit he shares that he leveled up mainly through friendships and raids. He participated in the raids and of course fought there with Pikachu or Raichu, but he did not catch any raid Pokémon.
Looking at the trainer’s medals, it can be seen that he indeed only has 2 Pokémon in his PokéDex and many medals he does not possess yet. The player has caught a total of only 13 Pokémon. Of course, they were all Pikachu.
He has not hatched any eggs yet and has not become best friends with any player. He primarily relies on XP from Hyper Friends. However, he has quite a few of them. In total, he has 114 friends on his list.
This helped him: The Adventure Week in Pokémon GO was also a great advantage for the player. He spun many new PokéStops and received over 4000 XP per stop with a lucky egg.

Why does he do this? The player has not given a real reason. He has another account that he plays normally. He started this account just 2 months ago.
He chose Pikachu as his Pokémon because it was one of the 4 starters and can appear in various forms through events. This way, he can primarily go on a Pikachu hunt during events.
What’s next? The next goal should be level 40, but that is still a long way off, as at level 35 you are not even halfway to the maximum level, as the last levels famously require the most XP.
Further Pikachu events could help, since this way he can at least catch a few Pokémon.
This trainer was even crazier. He caught only 1 Pokémon and reached level 40:
