Season 4 started at Call of Duty: Warzone with more than a week delay, but it brings some exciting surprises. Particularly interesting are the 3 new in-match events that can turn the match on its head at any time.
What are these events? With the start of Season 4 at Call of Duty: Warzone, the developers unexpectedly announced a new gameplay mechanic via the patch notes of the major update: in-match events. There are a total of 3:
- Jailbreak
- Fire Sale
- Supply Chopper

Sudden events change the rhythm of the mid-game
What happens during the in-match events? Each of these events is unique and starts randomly during the mid-game.
- Jailbreak: All players come back into the match. No matter if completely down, currently in the Gulag, or just eliminated. Every player will be revived. 60 seconds before a Jailbreak starts, players receive a signal.
- Fire Sale: A short-term price drop at the local buy stations. For 60 seconds, some items are heavily discounted or even completely free. Long lines at the checkout are to be expected.
- Supply Chopper: A large and well-armored transport helicopter appears over Verdansk. If you destroy the helicopter, it will drop a lot of loot. But not just for your team.
Especially the “Jailbreak” is likely to turn the match on its head. There may even be teams revived that were already completely out. Suddenly, there could potentially be 150 players back in the field, and the relaxed path from the TV station towards the stadium will turn into a battlefield.
How are the events triggered? According to the patch notes, these are purely random events. There is no special code, like during the opening of the atomic bunker 11, to activate one of the events.
However, there is a specific phase of the match determined by the gas circle in which these events can start:
- Earliest with the appearance of the first free supply crate (15 seconds before the first circle is completely closed).
- The match runs here for just under 8 minutes
- Ends with the closing of the Gulag, after the completion of the 4th gas circle
- The match runs here for just under 20 minutes
The match events start within these nearly 12 minutes and are otherwise deactivated. If there was no “Jailbreak” before the closing of the Gulag, you don’t need to be afraid of suddenly having a downpour of players in the endgame.
Season 4 launch without major map changes, but some little highlights
What else does Season 4 have in store for Warzone? The expected major map change of Warzone has not occurred yet, but Season 4 does bring a few small highlights to the Battle Royale:
- Fresh battle pass
- Vehicle horn as a new “cosmetic”
- Rumble mode – A 50 vs. 50 team deathmatch
- New weapons to loot in Verdansk
- A new rare contract that unlocks a blueprint
