Two players in Black Desert Online had to postpone their wedding due to Corona. The developers stepped in and organized a wedding for them in the game.
What happened? Due to Corona, not only were large gaming events postponed or canceled worldwide, such as E3 2020, but also many smaller events that affected gamers personally.
For example, a gamer couple had to postpone their wedding due to Corona. However, they were not discouraged. Since both are passionate players of Black Desert Online, they reached out to the developers with a request. In the game, they are known as Insidel and Sveluska.
They wanted their wedding celebration to take place online in the game instead, and so it happened. You can watch the video of the wedding celebration here:
This is what the BDO developers did: Since there are no wedding features in Black Desert Online, unlike in Final Fantasy XIV, improvisation was necessary.
The developers created a list of locations for the couple, and after some consideration, they chose the capital Kamasylvia. Some nice spots were also selected where “wedding photos” were taken.
The guests who attended the ceremony received lanterns and fireworks, which were set off after the vows were exchanged.
The atmosphere was enhanced by Shai musicians, who performed two special wedding pieces with the new music feature of BDO. These were specially prepared by the developers for the wedding.
After that, the couple and the guests went to a specially prepared house, where the celebration continued.
The event lasted longer than we expected, and the wedding guests continued to have fun even after the staff had left.
From Pearl Abyss’s statement to MassivelyOP
During the party, further “photos” were taken, and there was even the traditional cutting of the wedding cake.
Perhaps Pearl Abyss will take this beautiful celebration as an opportunity to implement a proper wedding feature in Black Desert Online. Final Fantasy XIV has already gone a step further and offers their weddings in real life as well.
