The eyewear manufacturer Gentle Monster has designed a special pair of glasses. It is a unique sunglasses inspired by the character Illidan from World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. This character is blind and surely doesn’t need glasses.
What kind of glasses are these? From the company Gentle Monster, which specializes in stylish glasses, comes a truly special piece. Sunglasses with green-tinted lenses and a twisted frame.
Moreover, the item comes in a cool box with a silver chain where the glasses can be hung. The chain also features a design resembling Illidan’s warglaives. Additionally, you receive a 30-day subscription for WoW: The Burning Crusade when you receive the glasses.
How can you get the glasses? The Illidan glasses are currently not available for regular purchase, they are a special product being raffled as part of a collaboration with Blizzard for a specific giveaway event. How is it that Illidan inspires a pair of glasses? Anyone familiar with the story behind WoW and The Burning Crusade knows that Illidan actually doesn’t need glasses.
Poor Illidan had his eyes burned out by the demon Sargeras. Instead of regular eyes, demonic green light glows in his hollow eye sockets.
This, according to Gentle Monster, was the inspiration for the sunglasses, as the color of the lenses is meant to represent the same sinister green that glimmers in Illidan’s eyes. Nevertheless, the idea of choosing a blind character as inspiration for a pair of glasses is quite quirky. Although Illidan at least possesses spectral sight, which is some form of vision nonetheless.
But regardless of whether you play World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade with or without stylish sunglasses, the “new” expansion for WoW Classic is well received. Our MeinMMO author and WoW expert Benedikt Grothaus even finds that the Classic version of Burning Crusade makes three things better than before.
