Call of Duty: Warzone kicks off the final joint season with Black Ops Cold War with a bang. Explosions in old bunkers beneath Verdansk have destroyed parts of the map, providing some variety. What else the new season has to offer, we will show you on MeinMMO.
Call of Duty: Warzone is entering the last live season before the release of the new CoD: Vanguard on November 5th. Season 6 is live and aims to impress you with extensive map adjustments on the large Verdansk map. Find out everything about the latest adjustments here:

Warzone: Update 1.43 – Information on size, download & trailer
When does Season 6 start? The new season is live. Season 6 kicked off on Thursday morning at 6 AM.
What is the download size? This depends on your platform. PC players have to provide a bit more storage space this time:
Warzone: Update sizes Season 6
- PlayStation 5: 30.6 GB
- PlayStation 4: 30.6 GB
- Xbox One Series X/S: 30.1 GB
- Xbox One: 30.1 GB
- PC: 39.3 GB / 40.5 GB (with CoD MW)
What about Cold War? The new season has also gone live for Cold War. A few new maps for multiplayer and a large, classic zombie map have been introduced. You can check out the English patch notes at developer Treyarch (via treyarch.com).
We will embed the trailer for the new Season 6 here:
Path of Destruction through Verdansk
What happened in Verdansk? The operator Adler detonated seismic bombs beneath Verdansk in a brainwashing frenzy, reducing parts of the city to rubble and ashes. A fissure opened up, exposing old bunkers that give you new looting opportunities.
However, the most visible changes are above the surface. From the large signal grid (array) to the hospital, the fissure runs through and almost swallowed everything that stood in its way:
The stadium is destroyed, many skyscrapers in downtown are no longer there, and the former face of the city is hardly recognizable. The large fissure is walkable in many parts, providing new cover opportunities throughout the region.
Additionally, there are now loot bunkers back in Warzone. At 3 locations, you can go underground to search for cash, weapons, and crates. You can find a guide with the bunker locations in Season 6 here.
Alongside many new features, something familiar is also making a return: the Gulag resembles the very first version after the release of Warzone. In the last seasons, the respawn arena has constantly changed its layout and returns to its origins with Season 6:
New mode and Halloween event provide variety
What new mode is coming in Season 6? The new mode is “Scopes & Scatterguns” on Rebirth Island. The name of the mode is not new, but the developers are taking the concept to the next level and putting it on the small map Rebirth Island. This time, there are really only sniper rifles and shotguns:
Scopes & Scatterguns rules on Rebirth Island
- Revival rules – If a team member survives, other members will be revived up to a certain point
- Limited loot – The collectible weapons on the map are either sniper rifles, shotguns, or crossbows
- No loadouts – You won’t get a free loadout and can’t buy your equipment
- Shotgun at the start – Instead of the 1911, you will receive the small Marshal shotguns at the start of the match
The mode goes live on Thursday, October 14, and will stay in the playlist for 2 weeks.
What do we need to know about the Halloween event? “The Haunting” is expected to return sometime between October 18 and 21, bringing Halloween flair to Verdansk. However, the developers haven’t revealed how the event will look this year.
Last year, there were crazy zombie modes and nerve-wracking loot crates with jump scares. Check here if you want to read my assessment of the last event.
What has been confirmed already: there will once again be licensed skins from horror movies. “Ghostface” from the Scream series was already seen in the game due to a glitch, and Call of Duty even responded to the clip:
Warzone update nerfs 4 strong weapons and brings 2 new
What changes are being made to weapons? 4 weapons have been nerfed, which experts considered part of the meta. There are also some adjustments to attachments. Here are all changes from the patch notes:

- Recoil increased
- MG82 – Nerf

- Recoil increased
- Reload interruption time increased
- Time to raise the weapon increased

How the changes will affect gameplay is yet to be seen. However, all 4 weapons were certainly part of the extended meta and known for good damage and manageable recoil.

What do the new weapons look like? As in every season, 2 new shooting weapons come into the game via the battle pass. This time, they are a shotgun and an assault rifle. We will show you the developers’ descriptions of the weapons:
- .410 Ironhide: Shotgun – Level 15 Battle Pass
- High damage at close range with a moderate rate of fire. Reliable 2-shot kills and short range even for one-shot kills.
- Grav: Assault rifle – Level 31 Battle Pass
- Rapid-fire assault rifle with high range and the highest bullet velocity among assault rifles.
How the weapons will be received by players and in the meta is still uncertain. However, a new assault rifle is usually welcomed, and if the .410 shotgun can indeed achieve one-shot kills against enemies with full armor, this weapon will certainly be a topic of conversation.
At the start of the season, you can also unlock a combat axe. Later in the season, a submachine gun (LAPA) and the melee weapons “Hammer & Sickle” will come into play.

Further adjustments and playlists for the upcoming weeks
What else is there to know? We have already covered the major adjustments, but there were more changes in detail:
- Preparation for the new clan system with Vanguard – regiments are now deactivated
- The loot cards of weapons in the game now also show the fire mode
- You can now customize the display of the kill feed
- New adjustment options for mono sound in the settings
There were also a few bug fixes to eliminate known issues in the game. If you want a closer look at the bug fixes, check the English patch notes from Raven Software (via ravensoftware.com).
What does the playlist look like for the coming weeks? Even during Mid-Season 5, the Warzone makers provided a longer preview of the playlist for the first time and want to make that possible in the future as well. The patch notes contain the playlists for the next 4 weeks:
What comes next for Warzone after Season 6? Warzone kicks off the last season with Cold War and Verdansk. After the release of Vanguard and the merging of the new CoD with the battle royale, a new era for Warzone begins.
A large new map, the fresh engine, anti-cheat – Warzone will continue and could present itself in a whole new way.
However, there are currently not many details about this. It’s currently uncertain how much of the new Vanguard multiplayer will end up in Warzone.
