The special anti-cheat software Ricochet from CoD Vanguard and Warzone is being enhanced with a new feature. The ‘Disarm’ feature is intended to further annoy cheaters in the future.
This is how Disarm works: The working principle of Disarm (Disarming) is as simple as it is amusing. When a player is identified by the system as a cheater, the game immediately takes away their weapons.
This applies not only to firearms or melee weapons but even to bare fists. As a result, cheaters are left completely helpless and become easy prey for other players. The feature essentially turns the tables.
These features are also available: Disarm fits seamlessly among the previously existing, extremely annoying features that the anti-cheat system Ricochet has to offer. These include, for example:
- Damage Shield: When a cheater is identified, honest players in the match receive a shield that drastically reduces the cheater’s damage. It ensures that they waste their ammunition and can be detected by players through hit feedback.
- Cloaking: This feature makes the cheaters’ shots invisible to normal players. This also applies to the projectiles and sounds of the players, making it impossible to detect them.
The functions are therefore not only designed to identify and ban cheaters but primarily to rob them of the sense of accomplishment that cheating provides. Many of them are also heavily humiliated.
Ricochet works, but…
These results are available: In the blog post with information about Ricochet, the team also states that since the last cheater report on April 26, there have been an additional 180,000 bans in Warzone and Vanguard. The bans happen both daily and in larger waves.
In a graphic, the team shows that the matches where Ricochet’s measures were active had significantly fewer cheater reports than matches where these measures were absent. This indicates that the anti-cheat works.
The fight against cheating is, however, never over, as stated in the blog post. As new cheat software is developed, there is again an increase in cases and reports. Ricochet helps developers to identify the new waves of cheaters faster and respond accordingly.
