In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone, Season 3 started on April 8 and brought significant changes to the Battle Royale. There are now 4-player teams and more is likely to come throughout the season.
What changes can I expect now? The new Season 3 starts on the morning of April 8 and has brought some changes to Warzone, the “Battle Royale” mode of the shooter hit Call of Duty.
Here are the most significant:
- Matches with 4-player squads are now possible (BR & Plunder)
- You can now equip skins for vehicles
- Loadout drops now cost $10,000
Update 1.19 brings changes to Warzone for everyone
What do the changes mean in detail? With the update, the desired 4-player teams are finally in Battle Royale and you can start directly as a “Quad”. The Cash mode “Plunder” also receives a four-player mode.
For the 5 vehicle classes there is now the option to customize individual skins. Through the new Battle Pass, you can directly unlock a skin for the Quad. Under the menu item “Weapons”, you can now make “Vehicle Customizations”. Once you get into a vehicle, the appearance of the vehicle will change.
The strong loadout drops, which we recommend in our tips for Warzone for every round, have received a hefty price increase. While they cost $6,000 at launch, the price has now gone up again to $10,000. The equipment crates are still worth every penny – only this way will you get the best perks in Warzone.
Which modes are now playable in Warzone? The Plunder mode “Blood Money” has disappeared, and you can no longer start the usual trios in Warzone:
- BR-4 – Battle Royale with 4-man teams
- BR-Solo – Battle Royale as a solo experience
- Plunder 4 – The Plunder mode with 4-man teams
Teams that have focused on the Trio mode will need a new teammate or fill their squad with unknown players. The playlists will rotate regularly in the near future, but currently, you cannot start normal Warzone matches as a 3-player team.
Season 3 plans more changes and special modes – Warzone Duo not yet in sight
What are the developers planning for the ongoing season? In an Activision blog post about Season 3, the creators go further into what will be coming in the next weeks. However, the descriptions here go less into detail and only provide a rough outlook:
- Special modes with specific weapon classes
- Surprise modes with different elements
- Overhaul of Warzone loot
What modes are planned? To keep Warzone gameplay fresh, the developers want to try out new modes from time to time and play with the available weapons. One example mode has already been mentioned: Scopes and Scatter Guns. In this mode, personal loadout drops are disabled, and you can only find shotguns and sniper rifles in Warzone.
With the different variants of the two modes “Battle Royale” and “Plunder”, Warzone wants to remain exciting for you. However, changes to the map or special events that could further refresh the experience are not currently planned. There are also no official signs yet for a possible Duo mode.
What changes did Season 3 bring for regular multiplayer? There is also a lot of new content and big plans for the new season in normal multiplayer.
Right at the start, you can look forward to 3 new maps and new weapons to unlock as well. The new update 1.19 was packed with content and changes and more has been promised. So hopefully it will be an exciting season.
