In Call of Duty: Warzone, there are numerous rumors about how and when the map could change. The US site Video Games Chronicle (VGC) now claims to have learned what is actually happening: The CoD Warzone map is supposed to change with Season 5.
What are the changes about? The developers of Call of Duty: Warzone continuously provide the battlefield in Verdansk with new content, such as new weapons or modes. Just recently, for example, the new mode Juggernaut Royale was introduced.
But there are also changes happening in the game world. For example, a Bunker System has been added, where players can find loot and an atom warhead. The game world is supposed to continue to change there. Because CoD: Warzone is supposed to become a long-lasting constant that connects Modern Warfare and future CoD releases.
Many players and fans have already been expecting some map changes in Warzone during the current Season 4. There have been many rumors and potential clues – for example, about a dam breach. Some even speculated about a completely new map. However, nothing concrete has happened so far. According to a US site, the map will significantly change – namely in Season 5.
This is what VGC says: According to VGC, significant “map changes” in Warzone are finally expected in the upcoming Season 5 at the beginning of August. They claim to have learned this from sources involved in the development. However, the site does not get more specific.
These are not official information, so take this with the appropriate amount of caution and skepticism. However, in the past, VGC has correctly predicted several details about Modern Warfare and Warzone (which they also had from anonymous sources) – including the free-to-play version of Warzone and the correct launch date of the battle royale mode.
What is supposed to change on the Warzone map with Season 5
According to VGC, the following things are supposed to happen on the Warzone map around Verdansk in Season 5:
The stadium will open: First of all, the stadium in the center of Verdansk is finally supposed to open. Already with the announcement of the Season 4 Reloaded, i.e. the mid-season update, official images surfaced (see title image) showing that the roof of the stadium is open and that several floors inside the sports facility are accessible.
This change is not yet in the game. According to VGC’s sources, we won’t be able to explore the interior until Season 5.
There will be a loot train: Furthermore, the site claims that there will be a kind of loot train in Season 5. This train is supposed to circle around the Verdansk map and be filled with loot.
Recently, a whole railway line has been added to the Warzone game world, which circumnavigates Verdansk. However, it currently serves no purpose – no trains operate there yet. This potential feature also does not seem too far-fetched.
You can learn more about the stadium and the railway line in this video by CoD expert TheXclusiveAce:
The atom warhead might finally detonate: What many speculated in Season 4 could finally happen in Season 5, according to VGC sources. The atomic weapon discovered in Season 3 could detonate in the next season and initiate a map revamp.
Additionally, changes are supposed to be made to Warzone according to VGC to align it “with the new Call of Duty 2020 (likely Black Ops 5)“, which is set during the Cold War. An atom warhead from exactly that era would fit perfectly.
VGC has not commented on a potential new Warzone map, which has been increasingly discussed since the launch of Season 4. But what do you think? Would you be excited about these changes? Or would you prefer a new map for the battle royale?
