In Call of Duty Warzone 2 you will soon make the area unsafe in the new extraction mode “DMZ”, loot in teams, and try to escape safely. Therefore, we summarize all the important information about the DMZ mode in an overview.
What is DMZ in Warzone 2? The developers behind Warzone 2 have come up with a new mode for the battle royale shooter. It’s called DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) and is supposed to resemble the mechanics of an extraction mode. A squad of three players will spawn on a huge map.
The squad’s main task is to loot, survive, and get away with the loot. Hostile NPCs and real players add to the excitement, as they can take you down and jeopardize your mission. Players often compare the new CoD mode to the core mechanics in Escape from Tarkov, the extraction shooter.
Now that Season 1 and thus Warzone 2 and DMZ will start soon, we are listing all the important information about the new mode here.

All important information about DMZ at a glance
When will the DMZ mode start? The DMZ mode starts with Season 1 for Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 on November 16, 2022. From that point on, you will have free access to the DMZ mode.
How does the DMZ mode work? Before the start of your round, you will have the opportunity to equip your loadout and setup with the best weapons. After that, you will receive various tasks that you must complete on the large map.
Once you have spawned, your main goal is to survive. If your squad dies, your mission is over and you have lost. However, this shouldn’t happen too quickly. With the new backpack feature from Modern Warfare 2, you will have the ability to craft many useful weapons using resources.
Traps, such as mines or other goodies, are to your advantage and greatly increase your chances of survival.
If your mission is completed, you need to make your way to the extraction point. Only upon successful extraction with completed objectives will the mission be considered finished.
It’s easier said than done, as many enemies want you dead. So be well-equipped and communicate with your team.
Is the DMZ mode free? While Warzone 2.0 is free, some players wonder if the DMZ mode is also free. This will come with Season 1, but it is not tied to the battle pass. So you can also play it for free with your friends.
Is the DMZ mode hard? On November 9, there was a playtest event with many notable streamers like Shroud and DrLupo. They were able to test the mode ahead of time and get an impression of it.
Shroud examined the mode and found that it is not nearly as tough as Escape from Tarkov. DMZ was compared to the Warzone mode “Plunder” and Shroud mentioned that the mode is mainly tailored for casual players. Whether all players agree with the professional’s opinion remains open until the release on November 16.
