Mid-Season 1 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was supposed to bring a new area to the Extraction mode DMZ. However, ‘Building 21’ won’t open its doors for curious players until later. What we know so far can be found on MeinMMO.
What is Building 21? According to current information, it is a completely new playable area separate from the normal DMZ map Al Mazrah. Shortly after the start of Mid-Season 1, Building 21 is not in the game. In German, the area is called ‘Gebäude 21’.
Once the area is active, you will need to obtain a special keycard on the normal map to gain access to this area.
The concept is reminiscent of the hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov. Here, there are the ‘Labs’ – an endgame area that is only accessible to players with a Labs keycard.

When is Building 21 coming? Currently, there is no date for the new area of the DMZ.
How do I get a keycard? Although the area is not yet available in the game, the keycard can already be found. The following methods have already been discovered by players:
- Take down the big commander helicopter from the sky
- Capture a SAM turret (the missile symbol on the map) and collect the supplies
- At the end of a DMZ match, additional planes fly over the map and drop supplies
- Loot all supply drops that come from the sky
- Steal a keycard from another player
However, the discovered methods give you no guarantee that you will indeed acquire a keycard for Building 21.
If you find a keycard, make sure to exit the map as quickly as possible. Once you have extracted it, store it in your key cabinet until Building 21 is available.
What will I find in Building 21? Currently, it cannot be said for sure. It is already known that it is a kind of bio-laboratory. The new assault rifle Chimera can also be found here – but you can also get it through other means.
You will also find powerful smuggling weapons with many attachments, plenty of loot in safes, and many locked doors that only reveal their secrets with additional keycards.
According to the CoD blog, only the toughest and best operators survive here. However, we will only be able to judge how difficult the new area is after the release.
The DMZ mode is an initiative by Call of Duty to penetrate the market of popular extraction shooters. Currently, the mode is still in beta status and offers relatively little content. However, a new area like Building 21 indicates what CoD has planned for the future.
