Call of Duty: Vanguard offers various maps, weapons, and game modes for its players. Learn here on MeinMMO what there is to play in Call of Duty: Vanguard.
How many modes and maps are there? The latest CoD game Vanguard currently offers 17 6v6 maps and 8 multiplayer game modes.
The basic game modes are:
- The solo campaign, where you play through an exciting story with characters like Arthur Kingsley or the already known sniper Polina Petrova from E3.
- The new cooperative zombie mode, which literally describes the beginnings of the zombie threat with the episode “The Beginning”.
- The regular multiplayer mode, which offers seven additional modes plus the special Champion Hill mode at launch.

What’s behind the maps and game modes
What multiplayer modes are coming? As mentioned at the beginning, there are seven core and hardcore modes. The various multiplayer game modes are:
- Free for All: This game mode is a massive slaughter, as everyone fights against everyone.
- Team Deathmatch: Here you fight in a team against all other teams.
- Kill Confirmed: Here, dead players leave a dog tag. Only when it’s collected does the kill count. On the other hand, you can deny opponents kills by collecting your fallen comrades’ tags in time.
- Domination: Here you have to capture all control points on the map and hold them long enough.
- Search and Destroy: This mode is reminiscent of Counter-Strike, as you need to either destroy a specific target or prevent its destruction.
- Hardpoint: Random locations appear on the map that must be captured quickly. After some time, the location disappears and reappears elsewhere.
- Patrol: This completely new mode is similar to Hardpoint, only the capture point does not disappear and reappear but constantly moves.
As a special feature, all these modes can be enhanced with the brand-new Combat Pacings. There are three options, each significantly increasing team sizes and thus creating epic chaos:
- Tactical: Classic CoD experience with 6v6 players
- Assault: Between 20 – 28 players brawl on a map
- Blitz: Between 28 and 48 players can really get going on a map
In addition, the Champions Hill mode will be available. This is a type of tournament. You enter with 12 team lives and fight against regularly changing opponents. Once you have used up all your lives, you exit the game.
Overall, there are 8 teams starting, and the final team wins. Additionally, you can earn money to upgrade your gear.
What maps can you expect? A proud 16 maps were available at the release of CoD Vanguard. That’s a lot, and just 2 weeks later another popular map Shipment was added. The following maps are currently in the game:
- Hotel Royal: This map is a hotel map with 2 levels in the heart of Paris.
- Gavutu: This map offers a fiercely contested Pacific island.
- Red Star: Here you fight in the ruins of winter Stalingrad.
- Eagle’s Nest: Players get a small map on a mountain peak in the Alps. It is the Kehlsteinhaus in Berchtesgaden.
- Castle: This is a remake of a map from CoD: World at War. The fight takes place in a Japanese castle.
- Dome: Another remake map where you engage in fierce battles in a small hall.
- Bocage: A map in France where you battle a devastated farmhouse.
- The House: This cool map is located in Germany and features a training course where Nazi special units practice capturing the White House.
- Decoy: This map is a fake village where your soldiers can shoot each other.
- Demyansk: A map in Russia where you fight for a village.
- Dessert Siege: A map in North Africa at the Suez Canal. Expect dunes and houses with flat roofs.
- Numa Numa: A small map in the Pacific with an MG nest in the middle.
- Oasis: Another desert map where Allied forces ambush the Nazis in an oasis.
- Sub Pens: In this small map, you fight in a German submarine bunker.
- Tuscan: This map is about capturing an Italian village in Tuscany.
- Battle of Berlin: This large city map takes place in Berlin shortly before the end of the Third Reich. You can expect brutal house-to-house combat in the ruins of the Nazi capital.
- Shipment: This popular map has been featured in CoD games since 2007 and lets you experience absurd chaos in close quarters. It is MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn’s favorite map.
