The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is done, now the release weekend is coming up. MeinMMO is keeping an eye on the server status and displaying known issues that players have experienced after the release – some even with solutions.
Update October 30, 5:15 PM: We are also watching the servers and official channels today. Currently, there are no reports of server disruptions. However, an important gunsmith feature has been disabled.
In the past few days, the servers have been quite unstable at times. There were frequent small outages and mini-waiting lines. But so far, there has been no long major disruption.
- Try restarting the game and/or your equipment if you can’t get in after being kicked out. If you are on PC, your Nvidia card may cause issues.
What issues are players reporting? We will list a few issues that players have reported since the release below. If there is a solution or response from the developers, we will include that as well.
- Game crashes often
The developers state that they are working on an issue with game crashes when playing in a party (via twitter.com). There are reports that it helps if you assemble your team completely first and then start the game search – an initial update for this has already been rolled out.
Update: A patch has been released for the issues with player parties (via twitter.com).
Update 2: The weapon tuning has also led to crashes. This has been temporarily disabled.
There are also known issues on PlayStation consoles that the game can freeze in the middle of a match when you go to the menu. Again, they are working on a fix.
- Issues with cosmetics
Shortly after the release, there were many reports that the additional content from special editions cannot be found. As a solution, a “restart” is recommended; otherwise, you currently have to wait for a fix.
For the Oni operator on PlayStation, you can “renew licenses” in your account settings.
- Login not working
If you can’t log in on PlayStation and used the New Zealand trick before release, the developers recommend a reinstall (via twitter.com).
But first, try restarting your device.
- Audio issues on PS4
The developers report audio disturbances on PlayStation 4, a fix has already been deployed.
- Issues with splitscreen
There are some reports that the splitscreen mode in multiplayer is not functioning, also here at MeinMMO. So far there is no solution and no report from the developers.
