With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Season 1 is coming to an end, and Season 2 is just around the corner. But can you still get the Battle Pass weapons after the season ends? And if so, how? Here’s what we know so far.
When does the new season start? On February 11, Season 1 of Modern Warfare ends, and the start of Season 2 will likely follow smoothly. Then the Season 1 Battle Pass along with its contents will disappear, making way for the new Season 2 Battle Pass.
This is what many players are wondering: The Season 1 Battle Pass introduced 2 new base weapons into the game, the RAM-7 and the Holger-26. But what happens to these weapons when Season 1 is over and the corresponding Battle Pass is replaced by a new one? After all, these are essential parts of the game.
Will players still be able to get these weapons after Season 1 ends, or can they only access them if they already have them? Can they still be earned through gameplay, or will they have to be purchased instead?
Even if the weapons do not require a Battle Pass purchase and are freely available to all players, they are tied to specific levels of the Season 1 Battle Pass, and not everyone has them yet or could earn them. Some players joined Season 1 late, others are only starting in Season 2, and some have had very little playtime.
Buying is unlikely
This is what we know officially so far: Infinity Ward has not yet made an official statement on this specific topic.
What is already officially known: The blueprints for weapons from the Season 1 Battle Pass will disappear, some possibly for good. Activision has already mentioned this in a blog post. However, these are alternative appearances (essentially a type of skin) for weapons and not new firearms.
However, the developers had already announced before the release of Season 1 that all essential and gameplay-relevant items would be released freely and for free for all players. Therefore, the new base weapons RAM-7 and Holger-26 are also available for free to all players through the Season 1 Battle Pass.
That these base weapons, which are definitely essential and gameplay-relevant items, will be sold individually or in bundles (exclusively) in the following season seems virtually impossible.
So what could happen to the Battle Pass weapons beyond Season 1?
It probably comes down to in-game challenges
This is what a CoD expert says after speaking with developers: The well-known CoD YouTuber and expert eColiEspresso was able to discuss this topic with some developers back in late 2019.
At that time, they had still not officially committed 100%, but a clear direction is recognizable for the Battle Pass weapons for the following season.
The developers indicated that these weapons will likely be unlockable through some kind of in-game challenges.
This means that the weapons will likely be integrated into the regular arsenal, but will be locked for new players or those who have not yet earned them. For the corresponding weapon, specific achievements must be completed regardless of level to unlock it, after which it can be used normally.
What could such a challenge look like? A recent example is the new weapon in the arsenal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – the Crossbow.
The Crossbow was recently introduced with an update and is also unlocked through a relatively simple, albeit time-consuming in-game challenge. The goal is to achieve 5 DMR kills in a match – and this must be done 25 times (i.e., in 25 matches) with a specific sight. The criteria for unlocking can be viewed directly with the new weapon.

However, a system similar to the blueprints for alternative weapon versions is also conceivable. For this, you need to complete certain missions in the multiplayer challenges, requiring a whole range of various tasks.
As an example – for the time-intensive challenge for the special AK variant Steel Curtain, you must achieve the following in order:
- 2 public victories
- 75 kills
- 5 headshots in Team Deathmatch
- 20 kills with equipment
- 20 flags captured in Ground War
- 20 close-range kills
- 5 wins in Search & Destroy
- 25 kills with killstreaks
- 40 kills with the secondary weapon
- 10 long-range kills
- 5 wins in Gunfight
- 10 public matches won
Either way, it does not look like the weapons from an old Battle Pass will disappear or have to be purchased again. It is very likely that they will be permanently integrated into the game and must be unlocked in some way.
By the way, the two new Battle Pass weapons for Season 2 are now known. You can find more about that and additional details about the new season here:
