The latest update of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare strengthened several shotguns, but with the “Model 680,” the developers may have gone a bit too far. The weapon can currently fire endlessly.
What is going on? The popular shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare regularly brings updates with new content, balancing, and bug fixes. The last major update 1.15 improved several shotguns, with the pump “Model 680” receiving a lot of attention.
However, the weapon is now causing issues. One of the attachments is acting a bit crazy, changing the weapon’s reloading mechanics and giving it infinite ammunition. Check out how this shotgun violates several physical laws and what impact this has on public matches.
Reload loop leads to infinite ammunition – but offers little advantage
What’s the deal with the infinite ammunition? With a somewhat shaky clip, user “Dinjur” showcased on reddit how the shotgun “Model 680” currently ignores limited magazine reserves and fires bullets endlessly from the barrel.
What’s broken? You can switch the “Model 680” to “Slugs” with an ammunition attachment. This significantly increases range, but almost completely removes the typical spread associated with shotguns.
It is precisely this attachment that is causing trouble and brings along three issues.
- You must hold the reload button to reload the rounds.
- If the magazine is empty and you want to reload, the weapon gets stuck in a reload loop and does not stop reloading, but only loads one round into the magazine.
- During the reload loop, you can fire. Every time the next round is pushed in, you can fire it again immediately.
How bad is it? I tested this right away and have to say the glitch isn’t that bad. To fire the rounds in an endless loop, good timing is required. Once you’re out of rhythm, the weapon stops firing and you have to find the correct point again.
For public matches, this likely won’t offer many advantages, as every moment counts and you can’t wait for the right moment to fire.

When will this be fixed? Experience has shown that such issues with weapon balancing are usually corrected fairly quickly. The Striker 45, for example, came into the game with a faulty barrel. We had to wait two weeks for that to be fixed.
The RAM-7 was supposed to get a 50-round magazine according to the patch notes for update 1.13. However, the clip with the extra rounds didn’t arrive until three weeks later. This update also came with some hidden changes and therefore had to face some criticism.
It’s quite possible that the developers will take a few weeks again to resolve this issue. By the time the shotgun “Model 680” functions correctly, we will probably already be having fun in the new battle royale:
