This morning (October 14), update 1.28 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone went live at 8:00 AM. Thanks to a new storage feature, it’s a really good update for PC players, but there were also some other adjustments.
What does the update bring? It was already clear yesterday that there would be the new patch 1.28 for CoD: Modern Warfare & Warzone today. Especially PC CoD soldiers will be pleased with the update, as you can finally reduce your data for CoD MW. But the patch has even more to offer:
- CoD MW – installation options for the PC
- New playlist for MW & Warzone
- Bug fixes for both CoDs
- Balancing of the DMRs SP-R 208 & Kar 98k
MeinMMO shows you here the German patch notes for the new update and what is changing.
Modern Warfare: Update 1.28 on 14.10. eases PC hard drives
How does the storage work in CoD MW? As a PC player, you can now reduce the game files of CoD MW in your Battle.net launcher. If you are sure that you will not touch the campaign anymore or that the co-op mode SpecOps does not matter to you, you can now simply remove the data for it:
- Start the Battle.net launcher
- Select “Call of Duty: MW” on the left
- On the game page, select “Options” on the left above the image, just under the Warzone logo
- You need to click on “Modify Installation” here and on the next screen “Modify Installation” again
- Here you can uncheck the game parts that you no longer need and confirm afterwards
- Now you just need to click “Start” to initiate the reduction
Keep in mind: You cannot remove Warzone. Only campaign, multiplayer, and SpecOps can be deleted.
The feature is really well received by PC players. Although some are a bit annoyed because this option is only now available, almost a year after the release of the title. But some cannot hide their joy:
- @lurkerbro87 on Twitter: “This is a huge, huge win for me. I can finally uninstall the campaign and co-op. Hopefully, this will also be available for CoD: CW.
- @ShanmuV2 on Twitter: “Thanks guys. I couldn’t handle the over 200 GB on my hard drive. I finished the campaign on the first day (it was fantastic), but I don’t need it anymore.
New playlist is online & lobby gives Halloween hints
What does the new playlist bring? There are also some fresh modes again this week. Here are the complete playlists for the two current CoDs:
Modern Warfare
- Ground War
- Gunfight
- Team Deathmatch & Drop Zone
- Gun Game TDM
- Headquarters Gunfight
Warzone
- Battle Royale – Solo / Duos / Trios / Quads
- Plunder Quads
In addition, the lobby itself changed a little. Your characters now walk along a foggy path, and thunder can be heard in the distance. These may be the first hints of the upcoming Halloween event this month.
The Season 6 roadmap shows the event “Haunting of Verdansk”, which runs from October 20 to November 3. It is quite possible that the night mode for Warzone will finally start then and/or zombies will invade Verdansk. Both have not been officially announced yet.
Warzone brings Bounty back & changes the strong DMRs
What adjustments were made? Infinity Ward shares the changes in 3 categories – General, Warzone, and Weapons. Here are the most important in summary:
General Fixes
- Fixes the spawn on the map Broadcast, which transported you into a closed room
- Increased stability for PC
- Removed issues that displayed the wrong attachments being unlocked next
- Removed a bug that caused crashes in survival mode when you reached higher than wave 45
Warzone Fixes
- Better settings options for the “War Tracks” (the vehicle music, which is currently a bit buggy)
- Removed problems with the subway puzzle (Here you can grab a free blueprint)
- The “Bunker 11” puzzle has also been fixed (You can also grab a blueprint here)
- The fast travel system had issues when players died in the subway or self-revived – that should be fixed
- When players exited vehicles or while parachuting, the camera could sometimes shift
- The crashes during bounty hunts are fixed – the mission is back in the game
Weapon Adjustments
- Increased the minimum damage at long range for the Kar 98k in Warzone
- Decreased the minimum damage at long range for the SP-R 208
If you want to take a closer look at the patch notes in detail, you can find them on the Infinity Ward website, but in English.
Especially the changes of the two DMRs and the return of the Bounty contract is exciting for Warzone. The SP-R 208 was first considered broken but was able to establish itself as a strong weapon after the repair and a nerf. Whether this will remain the case after the second nerf or if the Kar 98k will take the lead here remains to be seen. Until then, you can participate in our survey – Which weapon is the best for you in Warzone?
