Call of Duty’s big update for Season 5 went live this morning (August 5th, 8:00 AM). MeinMMO presents the English patch notes for the new update 1.24 for Modern Warfare & Warzone.
The shooter duo Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone enters Season 5 today, and a lot has changed in the Battle Royale with the big update 1.24. We present the changes from the official patch notes. You can find our extensive summary of Season 5 here.
Call of Duty: Update 1.24 Patch Notes
However, before you can dive into the contents of Season 5, you need to complete a hefty download:
- PlayStation 4: 33.9 GB
- Xbox One: 49.8 GB
- PC: 54.2 GB (with CoD MW) / 47.7 GB (Warzone only)
The developers promise that the overall storage requirement for both shooters will decrease somewhat, at least on consoles. If CoD is too big for you, you can delete some parts of the game.
New Content for Call of Duty in Season 5
The announcement of the new content was already made through the release of the roadmap. At the start of the new season, you can expect among other things:
- Fresh Battle Pass with 100 tiers
- 2 new weapons to unlock
- 4 new maps for MW
- Warzone map adjustments
- New operator
- New modes, such as Mini Royale in Warzone
- Warzone in-match event (Juggernaut)
Further details on the playable innovations can be found in our article about the roadmap.
General Adjustments for Modern Warfare & Warzone
Before the specific changes for MW & Warzone, the developers highlight some adjustments that apply more or less to both game components. Here are some interesting changes:
- Weapon inspection added
- Bugs in private matches removed (headshot hitboxes, killstreaks)
- Issue with the Rytec sight resolved
- Loud footsteps (tactical sprint/sprint) no longer directly transition into quiet footsteps (walking) – loud footsteps can now be heard for longer
Additionally, there are several smaller error adjustments that only had a rare impact on the game. You can find the complete patch notes on the Infinity Ward website.
Furthermore, the developers announced weapon balancing for upcoming updates, so there are hardly any changes to the weapons at the start of the season.
Adjustments for Modern Warfare
The following section is classified by the CoD creators as adjustments for regular multiplayer:
- Fixed issues with the “23.0” RPK barrel of the AK-47
- Removed exploit that allowed players infinite ammunition
- Resolved exploit with recon drones/supply boxes
- New voice line when the perk “Alerted” is activated
Adjustments for Warzone
The most important adjustments certainly include the major map changes, which had hinted at themselves in recent weeks. They are finally online, with a loot train and a blown-up stadium roof adding variety to the Warzone map Verdansk.
There are also the following adjustments:
- New Warzone loot
- Gulag weapons now rotate weekly
- The effective damage range of all semi-automatic sniper rifles and DMRs has been increased
- Damage range of the FR 5.56 assault rifle increased
- Bug with airstrikes resolved
- Removed incorrect pings from the heartbeat sensor
- The “Hunt” contract now brings players back from the Gulag
How the adjustments affect the game will be shown in the coming days. The changes in damage ranges sound intriguing, as semi-auto weapons like “SKS” or “Mk2 Carbine” are considered weak in the battle royale and thus receive a slight buff. The same applies to the assault rifle “FR 5.56”, which does not have many fans in Warzone.
The roof camping, on the other hand, has been “nerfed.” Throughout Verdansk, there are now winches, allowing you to quickly access occupied roofs. Not entirely new, but still nice: The red access cards are back in Warzone.
Playlist for the First Week of Season 5
Since the weekly playlist update was somewhat overlooked due to the new season, the developers released the playlists of the current CoDs alongside the patch notes:
Modern Warfare
- Ground War
- Gunfight Plans
- Oil Rig and Harbor 24/7
- Confrontation – Livestock
- Search & Destroy: Double Time
Warzone
- Battle Royale – 2s / 3s / 4s
- BR Buy Back Solo (formerly Stimulus)
- Mini Royale
- Plunder: Blood Money Quads
With Season 5, there is plenty to do, with new maps, modes, and even adjustments to the Warzone map for even more action. Perhaps a 5-player battle royale will soon start, which could bring a whole new dynamic to the BR.
What do you think about the major adjustments and content of the new season?
