The MK-2 Carbine is one of the One-Shot weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and can bring a lot of fun and very satisfying kills with a little practice. Here are two strong setups for the DMR.
What type of weapon is the MK2 Carbine? This large weapon comes with a lever for reloading and is a typical American carbine.
The one-shot killer rewards precise hits to the head or chest with a guaranteed kill, but does not offer as much range as a real sniper rifle. However, you have high mobility and can achieve excellent values in ADS speed.
For me, this weapon was the optimal entry into the playstyle with higher ranges and large sights in Modern Warfare. But even at shorter distances, the carbine is fun to use.
What do the stats look like? The carbine comes with a damage multiplier for the upper torso area, allowing it to score secure one-shots here.
The listed values all come with this multiplier.
- Rate of fire: 108 rounds per minute
- Damage: 108 to 20 m / 84 over 20 m
- Rounds per kill: 1 to 20 m / 2 over 20 m
- Time-to-kill (ms): 0 to 20 m / 0.556 to 20 m
- Reload time: 0.2 s + 0.53 s per round
- Reload speed: 0.2 s + 0.45 s / round

The best attachments, setups, and builds for the MK2 Carbine
What should I consider when modifying? When it comes to the weapon, it’s all about the first shot. Therefore, you should choose the attachments that ensure a quick and secure hit.
Additionally, the perk “Focus” helps to have a chance against players with faster weapons. This perk reduces your character’s reaction to enemy hits.
The MK2 Carbine has almost no recoil, but takes a long time to shoot the next round after one. Use a sight for better accuracy and choose the other attachments to maximize your ADS speed.
Setup 1 – For beginners
- Barrel: FSS 18″ Factory
- Sight: Mini Reflex Sight Cronen LP945
- Stock: Ammo Belt
- Perk: Full Metal Jacket
What is this setup good for? You can unlock all 4 attachments relatively early and get a good one-shot rifle.
With the small sight, you can benefit from the already high ADS speed by default. However, you can also try it without a sight. Then you have a really good ADS speed, but you shouldn’t be more than about 25 meters away from the opponent to be able to land one-shot kills.
The full metal jacket gives the weapon very good penetration and you can land painful hits even behind objects and finish off injured opponents.
Aiming and hitting can be really difficult at first. For a good start, we have 7 tips for aspiring snipers.
What else fits into the build? You can make the transition to the new weapon a bit easier with the right perks.
- Blue Perk: Overkill – Bring a secondary weapon that you know better.
- Red Perk: Hardline – This way, you can get your killstreaks easier and often call in recon drones.
- Yellow Perk: Eager – This way, you switch to your secondary weapon faster.
- Field Upgrade: Ammo Box – The carbine comes with very little reserve ammunition. Here, you can reload your equipment and ammunition.
Setup 2 – For close combat
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolith)
- Barrel: FSS 18″ Factory
- Sight: G.I. Mini Reflex
- Stock: Ammo Belt
- Perk: Focus

What is this setup good for? This setup is recommended by “TheXclusiveAce” and emphasizes the weapon’s strength at short distances. The special ammo belt stock gives you 6 rounds more in reserve, which can be invaluable behind enemy lines.
With the perk “Focus” and the small reflex sight, you improve your accuracy against enemies who have already noticed you and might even be shooting at you.
The silencer and the 18″ barrel increase your one-shot range by almost 30%, and you can take out opponents even at over 25 meters with chest shots.
This weapon is very suitable for modes with objectives, such as Headquarters. Play aggressively and try to flank the opponents. If you come from the side, you can take out 2 or 3 surprised enemies before they even notice you. But it can also score well in TDM.
What else fits into the build? Since you are operating behind enemy lines, you also need perks that support you here.
- Blue Perk: Battle Hardened – Lets you survive enemy explosives, and with the “Focus” perk, you can start shooting right away.
- Red Perk: Ghost – Together with the silencer, this perk helps you remain undetected by enemy technology.
- Yellow Perk: Amped – This allows you to use dead silence 33% faster.
- Field Upgrade: Dead Silence – While this bonus is active, you are much quieter and a bit faster.
Setup 3 – For aspiring snipers
- Barrel: FSS 24″ Factory
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Sight: VLK 3.0x Scope
- Stock: FSS MK2 Sports Stock
- Perk: Focus
What is this setup good for? This variant also rewards aggressive play, but here you can position yourself a step behind your teammates.
This is my preferred setup for the MK2 Carbine. The barrel increases the one-shot range to almost 30 meters, and quick-scope kills with chest shots are incredibly fun. For longer distances, the 3x scope helps with headshots.
With the scope and barrel, you lose some ADS speed, but if you balance that out with the Sports Stock and tactical laser, you are still relatively fast in aiming.
This setup is great for all modes where you can operate a little behind a team, like Ground War or Domination. With quick hits and kills, you can support the advance, but you are also strong enough to take out several opponents quickly.

What else fits into the build? To be able to support the team, rely on good equipment and looting.
- Blue Perk: Looting – When it gets a bit hectic, you might lose a magazine. This way, you can get resupplied.
- Red Perk: Resupply – Together with thermite grenades, no tank in Ground War will scare you anymore.
- Yellow Perk: Shrapnel – Gives you an extra grenade. Always helpful.
- Field Upgrade: EMP Drone – Surprise your opponents with a drone strike. Used correctly, you can not only take out enemy equipment but also get easy kills.
Advantages and disadvantages of the MK2 Carbine
How do the DMRs compare to each other?
Except for the crossbow, the 3 DMRs each serve a niche, and the MK2 Carbine stands right in the middle.
The EBR-14 is generally faster but only gets kills with a single hit on headshots without special ammunition. The Kar98k is almost a sniper rifle. Slower than the carbine, but it can also achieve one-shot kills with chest shots at high ranges.
The carbine wants to be a bit of both and does its job quite well. It’s fun to take out multiple opponents in succession from a standstill with quick scopes.
However, it also requires a lot of practice. When I play with the carbine, I usually don’t use an automatic rifle that day. The behaviors when aiming are too different, and warming up with both can sometimes take forever. But when the hits do land, you can hardly wipe the grin off your face.
