Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received a new bundle featuring the blueprint for a weapon: Patchwork – A FR 5.56 (Famas) in sniper variant. The new gun packs a real punch – and you can build it for free.
What kind of weapon is this? The “Sniper-Famas” is a new, legendary blueprint for the assault rifle FR 5.56 (“Famas”). It transforms the burst-fire assault rifle into a sniper rifle with considerable power at range.
In the Patchwork variant, the Famas is wrapped in camouflaged sackcloth that encases the long barrel and the scope. Particularly striking is the bipod.
How do I get this Famas? The blueprint is only available in the shop bundle “Urban Avenger”. It costs 2400 CoD points (or approximately $19.99). However, the bundle is not always available. Currently, instead of Urban Avenger, there is the Nikto bundle.
Anyone who has already purchased the Nikto bundle will instead see the Urban Avenger. It is also possible that the bundle rotates back into the normal selection.
However, you don’t have to wait and can also build the Famas yourself. Own creations are better than blueprints, believes Benedict. Downsides: You need a relatively high weapon level for this and you won’t have a stylish skin.
Build Patchwork for Free
Here’s how to build the Sniper-Famas: To build Patchwork, you need all five attachments. Select the following weapon setup in the Gunsmith feature:
- Base weapon: FR 5.56
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: FR 24.4″ Sniper
- Scope: Scope
- Stock: FORGE TAC Ballast Pack
- Underbarrel: Bipod
What do the stats look like? With these attachments, you sacrifice a lot of mobility with the Famas, but gain a lot more precision, range, and control. These are exactly the qualities you want in a sniper rifle.
With the bipod, you also have the option to have stronger recoil control when crouching or lying down. The weapon is essentially permanently mounted even without a wall or barrier.
Sniper-Famas – Strengths and Weaknesses
Where the Patchwork is worthwhile: The Sniper-Famas has its strongest deployment area on large maps, such as in Ground War or on maps with a lot of open space. Multiplayer modes where you need to secure and observe areas are particularly suitable.
In Hardcore, the Famas turns it up a notch. In its base version the FR 5.56 is already among the strongest weapons for Hardcore modes. As a sniper variant, it extends its power to even greater distances.
However, you need to be cautious when being overwhelmed. You’re in trouble in close combat. You lack mobility and cannot rush yourself. It’s advisable to carry a strong pistol for short distances, such as a .357 (as a shotgun) or a .50 GS.
How to make the weapon even more useful: The YouTuber TheKoreanSavage has modified the Patchwork Famas a bit further. He has assembled a setup that allows him to also excel in close combat and more action-oriented modes:
- Base weapon: FR 5.56
- Barrel: FR 15.9″ Commando
- Laser: 5mW Laser
- Stock: FR lightweight (hollow)
- Grip: Textured Grip Tape
- Scope: Scope (optional)
In this setup, you have more mobility, but less control and otherwise similar advantages as with Patchwork. With a scope, you’re still deadly at long distances, and without a scope you can even rush effectively. Many players forgo scopes anyway.
Both variants are shown by TheKoreanSavage in his video in action. With the Patchwork blueprint, he even obtains a tactical nuke and ends the round with it.
Note: He mentions that he only puts the scope on for the sniper variant, but in his video, it’s shown that he uses the attachments from the Patchwork blueprint in the second part.
