In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the weapon “Striker 45” received buffs. These were not mentioned in the patch notes for the update, but they make the weapon super strong now. We show you what has changed after the patch.
This was the patch: On February 25, the developers at Infinity Ward released an update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There were also patch notes reporting on new modes, buffs, and nerfs. We have summarized the most important changes from the official patch notes for you here.
However, as it turned out, the developers did not mention all changes in the patch notes. Players have now noticed what else has changed:
- The submachine gun Striker 45 was secretly buffed.
And these buffs are significant. YouTuber TheXclusiveAce explains in one of his videos why the gun suddenly is incredibly fast and deadly.
Striker 45 – 1-Burst-Kill since Update 1.15
What has changed? Officially, for the new SMG Striker 45, the range and the ADS speed were adjusted to match the description of the 300mm poly barrel. But behind the scenes, things continued.
Specifically, it is about the .45 hollow point magazine on the Striker 45. When using it, the weapon becomes a burst rifle. It fires bursts with two bullets each.
Before the change, you needed 3 bullets with this ammunition to secure a kill. It didn’t matter where you hit an opponent. However, there were slight changes in the damage values, which now show significant effects on the weapon. The Striker 45 is now much stronger.
If you now, after the secret change in CoD MW, hit an opponent in the chest or head, only 2 bullets will secure a kill. You may only be a maximum of 25 meters away from the targeted opponent.
This means: With a single burst, you can take down an opponent immediately as long as you hit in the chest or head.
How fast is that? If you take someone down at close range with this 2-shot burst, the time-to-kill is extremely low. It only takes 117 milliseconds. TheXclusiveAce calls this “ridiculously fast” – it’s almost twice as fast as the average time-to-kill in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
It is unclear why the developers kept this strong change secret. There were also secret changes in December.
