The new Update 1.13 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare introduced a new weapon – a crossbow. We explain how you can get the Crossbow.
This is about the new weapon: Many were looking forward to this: The new weapon had been leaked several times before, and now it is finally here. With the CoD Modern Warfare Update 1.13, the crossbow (in English, Crossbow) entered the game on January 22.
From now on, you can go on silent hunts with the new weapon that kills with just one bolt in Multiplayer. If you are looking for it in the menu – it belongs to the weapon class of DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifles), so it has no own category.

How to get the Crossbow in CoD Modern Warfare
The Crossbow is not given away: If you want to have the crossbow, there are currently two options:
- you have to complete a challenge in the multiplayer of CoD Modern Warfare. This way you can unlock the new Crossbow for free.
- you can purchase a Blueprint for a special version of the crossbow in the in-game shop and use it immediately.
What you need to do for the Modern Warfare crossbow challenge
Do I need to select something special? The challenge can be played and progressed at any time, you do not need to select a specific mission or challenge in the quarters.
Only knowing the requirements and the weapon class you use for this challenge is important.
The right weapon for the challenge: Since the crossbow oddly counts as a DMR, the corresponding challenge must be completed with a DMR.
Your options are
- the EBR-14
- the MK2 Carbine
- and the Kar 98 k

The right scope for the challenge: Once you have chosen a DMR, you need to equip the right sight for the weapon. For the challenge, the DMR must be equipped with a reflex sight. The mini-reflex sight Cronen LP945, for example, is excellent for this and is unlocked very early on the MK2 Carbine.
What exactly do you need to do? Once the weapon setup is complete, you need to achieve 5 DMR kills in a match – and do this 25 times. So you have to play at least 25 games and get at least 5 DMR kills in each of those games.
Tip: Also use the returning mode “Shoot or Ship, no matter” (“Shoot the Ship”). In this mode, you compete only on the maps Shipment and Shoot House in various modes. Due to the layout of the maps, the rounds finish faster and are more action-packed, allowing you to quickly reach your kills. Team Deathmatch (TDM) and Kill Confirmed are the best options.
We also recommend the Hardcore mode, as you usually kill with only one shot from the DMR – even to the body. Here, choose only fast modes like TDM or Kill Confirmed.
Buy the Crossbow in the Shop
This is how you get the crossbow from the shop: Alternatively, you can get the new Crossbow from the in-game shop. However, you will need the real money currency CoD Points (“Call of Duty” Points).
The blueprint for the special version of the crossbow “Ice Lance” is only available as part of the “Arctic Beast” bundle. This costs 1,200 CoD points, which is about €12.
Buyers of the bundle immediately gain access to the weapon blueprint, so they can use the special version of the crossbow immediately without having to unlock the regular weapon first.
Additionally, the Ice Lance already comes with several unlocked attachments such as a sight, a stock, or a bolt (ammunition in other weapons), and you can also use this weapon to unlock the regular crossbow.
Note: With the bundle, you can only play with the Ice Lance. The progress is saved. If you complete the challenge with the Ice Lance, you will be around level 15 with the crossbow after completing the challenge.
