In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare there is a new update coming today, December 24, 2019, for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. This brings new game modes, an XP bonus, a new bundle in the shop, and numerous bug fixes. We have the patch notes for you here.
What’s in the update: The new update at Christmas expands the contents of the recently released Season 1 of Modern Warfare. The contents include:
- the new game mode “Snowfight”
- the new game mode Drop Zone
- Double XP and tier-level XP for the Battle Pass
- new shop bundle “Mad Chemist”
- bug fixes
The two new game modes are not yet the upcoming classic modes that have been revealed in a recent leak.
When does the patch come? The new content is set to be released today, on the evening of December 24, at 7 PM German time (10 AM PT). The two modes will be available until December 31 at 7 PM, and the XP bonus will last until December 27 at 7 PM.
Update on December 24 – Content and Patch Notes
These are the new modes: The mode “Snowfight” will be more of a fun mode, while “Drop Zone” completely alters a game mechanic. Here’s how the modes work:
- Snowfight – You fight in a 2vs2 Gunfight match on the Christmas Edition of the Docks (Winter Docks). However, you won’t get any weapons; instead, you’ll have to battle with snowballs.
- Drop Zone – You need to hold a drop zone to access the coveted killstreaks. The killstreaks are only available through the supply drop packages there. The mode is highly objective-oriented.
Both modes extend the standard multiplayer modes for the duration they are available. Whether the special Christmas Easter Egg of the Winter Docks is available in the snowball fight is something we are not yet sure about.
What’s in the new bundle: The new bundle is for the operator Krüger, which you can unlock, among other things, with the Enforcer medal. The bundle includes:
- a skin for Krüger with a gas mask
- weapon skins for the PP-19 Bizon and the .357
- a knife skin
- a watch
- emblems, quips, and finishers
- 2 skips for battle pass levels
The bundle costs 2400 CoD points (19.99€).
What the XP bonus and bug fixes bring: The XP bonus allows you to level up the Battle Pass faster or unlock weapon attachments faster. Use the time to level particularly unpopular or tricky weapons, such as pistols.
As for the bug fixes, the developers are addressing issues with field upgrades, adding a new menu for selecting trials, and adjusting the volume of footsteps. The latter is a significant issue that players have been raising for a long time.
