Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has received another playlist update. What usually causes little stir now brings energy to the community. Because InfinityWard has suddenly nerfed two of the strongest weapons.
These are the weapons in question: With today’s playlist update from January 28, InfinityWard has nerfed the M4A1 and the MP5. Both weapons were considered the strongest weapons in their category.
For the MP5, both the headshot damage multiplier and the range of the 10mm ammunition have been reduced. You can find a detailed guide to the MP5 here.
For the M4A1, the damage has been generally adjusted. It now deals less damage to reduce the “headshot effectiveness,” according to the developers. Additionally, the range has been nerfed. You can find a detailed guide to the M4A1 here.
Further Weapon Adjustments and Patch Notes
These weapons have been changed: The M13 now has less horizontal recoil and deals more damage, making it easier to aim well and eliminate opponents. Additionally, the developers have increased its range.
The new crossbow has received a significant disadvantage. In our guide to the best setups for the crossbow, we explained that it can shoot Killstreaks with three Thermite bolts.

This has now been adjusted. For a VTOL, the crossbow now requires five bolts, and for a support helicopter or chopper, even six bolts. How strong the crossbow is in this area now has yet to be tested.
Changes to the Playlist: The actual playlist update reads quite short:
- Deathmatch Domination has been added
- Gunfight Custom has been added
- Shipment 24/7 is back (replaces “Shoot or Ship, Whatever”)
- Winter Docks has been removed
- Capture the Flag is now in the “Quick Play” filter
With the removal of “Shoot or Ship, Whatever,” unlocking the crossbow may now take a bit longer if you preferred to play Shoot House. However, Shipment 24/7 is a good replacement and you shouldn’t take much longer than before. If you played more Shipment anyway, it hardly makes a difference.
What do you think of the nerfs to the weapons? Appropriate or unnecessary?
The nerf to the M4A1 may not be so bad. Because with the right attachments, the RAM-7 is anyway stronger:
