In the beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, players could get their first impression of the shooter’s weapons. But which one was the best?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most sought-after shooters of the year, and many fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the release in October. A new feature on Steam even reveals that Modern Warfare 2 was the best-selling title on the gaming platform last week.
Players who got their first glimpses of the game and its various gameplay aspects during the beta have, of course, already formed their opinions about various things. One weapon has already emerged as the best of the beta.
Which weapon is the best? If you ask around on YouTube or social networks about the best or most popular weapons of the beta, one name will surely come up several times: the Lachmann-MP.
We’re embedding a video here from former CoD pro and YouTuber BennyCentral, who showcases his ranking of the MW 2 beta weapons. The Lachmann-MP is in first place.
What makes the Lachmann-MP so strong? The Lachmann-MP is a submachine gun that players like to call MP5 due to its appearance and playstyle. The Lachmann-MP features typical characteristics of a submachine gun and has a low ADS time (it aims down sights quickly) and a relatively high rate of fire.
Additionally, the Lachmann-MP has nearly negligible recoil, allowing it to score a few kills even at medium range. Generally, it is not necessary to use attachments to reduce recoil with the submachine gun. Instead, you can use attachments that, for example, increase your movement speed or further decrease your ADS time.
Let’s summarize the advantages of the Lachmann-MP during the beta:
- good mobility
- low recoil
- short ADS time
- relatively high rate of fire
Are there other strong weapons? The Lachmann-MP is primarily strongest for gunfights at relatively short to medium range. Depending on how aggressively you play or what distances you want to engage in battles, other weapons might be more suitable.
The M4 assault rifle has proven to be a very versatile all-rounder, which you can use for both short and slightly longer distances, depending on the setup.
Another strong weapon that could become even stronger after the beta is the DMR “Lockwood MK2”. With the Lockwood, you can achieve 1-shot kills at greater distances if you shoot your opponents in the chest or head. Since it also has a relatively low ADS time, this is additionally possible at short to medium range. This distinguishes the rifle from the sniper rifle Signal-50, which can also achieve 1-shot kills but takes significantly longer to aim down sights.
The Lockwood MK2 and the Signal-50 could not yet be adjusted at the gunsmith during the beta, which is why they could be even stronger at the official release. If you wanted to play the Lockwood with a zoom level, you could access one of the pre-made classes and enjoy the raw firepower of the rifle.
What were your favorite weapons in the beta, and which ones did you only play to unlock another? Feel free to let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments!
MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider has summarized his first impression of the Modern Warfare 2 beta in detail and is especially convinced by a new gadget he calls “Buddy Bubble”.
