With the new season, ‘Vondel’ has entered Call of Duty: Warzone. The new map is set to be available soon for Battle Royale, including a new Gulag. This has now been leaked and excites the players.
What’s new in Warzone?
- On June 14, Season 4 started in Warzone, we reported on the most important news and on the patch notes for the update
- towards the end of Season 3, a challenge was made easier and thus angered the Warzone players
- On September 21, 2023 the original Call of Duty: Warzone will close, which is now called Warzone: Caldera
- the new map ‘Vondel’ went online for the rebirth mode at launch and is expected to be available soon for the traditional modes in Battle Royale
This is the new map: Vondel is set in the Netherlands and is approximately between Al-Mazrah and Ashika Island in size. There are 15 points of interest – including a zoo, a football stadium, and a medieval castle.
As it is a city map with many buildings, Vondel seems at first glance to be the exact opposite of Al-Mazrah. Along with this, there is also a new Gulag.

New Gulag brings Verdansk vibes
What is the Gulag anyway? The Gulag is a kind of mini-game held on a compact map in Call of Duty: Warzone. There, 2 players fight against each other, who were eliminated in Warzone, for a 2nd chance in the form of a respawn.
What is the new Gulag supposed to look like? In the subreddit r/CoDWarzone, u/TheRealPdGaming posted a post that provides insight into the new Gulag. It resembles the popular Gulag of the first Warzone map, ‘Gulag Showers’ in its structure.
A video clip from the alleged new Gulag can be found on Reddit. If you don’t want to be spoiled, you shouldn’t click the link. However, keep in mind that it is only an unofficial leak.
Whether and in what form the new Gulag will come into the game remains to be seen.
The similarities in layout between the new Gulag and Verdansk’s ‘Gulag Showers’ are striking. Even though the design is different, both maps have a similar structure.
The middle spot where the flag appears to capture looks like a copy in a new ‘skin’.
The fans seem to be satisfied, with some users commenting on the Reddit post. elpipita20 writes: ‘It looks a bit like Verdansk’s bathroom Gulag since both have the same basic layout’, receiving 306 upvotes and thus much approval.

When will the new Gulag be available? According to the Call of Duty website, the new Gulag will come into the game with Season 4 Reloaded, so probably mid-July – 4 weeks after the season starts as part of the mid-season update. However, there is currently no official date available.
For many players, this seems to be a small glimmer of hope. For some, the battle royale is no longer an issue after the end of the original Warzone – MeinMMO editor Maik says goodbye to the game:
