Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War released a small update and kicks off the first Double XP event. A developer also made an announcement regarding balancing. You can find all the information here on MeinMMO.
What happened with update 1.05? On Sunday (November 15), many CoD soldiers had to briefly interrupt their session to load and install the new update 1.05. On PlayStation, this could take more than 10 minutes as the copying process after downloading felt like it took forever.
Not much has actually changed:
- Update size: Just over 100 MB
- Update content: Security and stability fixes
But besides the info on the update, there’s still something exciting. A Double XP event is currently running in Cold War and a leading developer provided information about planned balancing.
Double XP until Tuesday evening – Multiplayer & Zombies
When does the Double XP event run? The event is online and runs until Tuesday evening at 7 PM.
The release of Cold War was just a few days ago, and almost every player is currently benefiting from such an event. Originally, it was only planned until this evening (November 16), but developer Treyarch has extended it by 24 hours:
- Double XP until Tuesday, November 17 – 7 PM our time
If you want to grab a lot of XP during the event, you should sit down again today. However, it seems that it’s only double experience points for your military ranks, which unlock weapons and equipment. Unfortunately, this is not as well recognized here as in Modern Warfare. At the end of a match, you only see the “2XP” symbol flash briefly during the game bonus.
Also active in Zombie mode: You receive double XP in the crazy PvE mode as well. While hunting down the rotten fellows and Easter eggs, you can also level up faster.
Developer announces balancing – Points to Season 1
Tony Flame, the lead game designer at Treyarch, briefly spoke on Twitter about upcoming balancing changes for Cold War. Just a few days after release, there are many requests to change something here. Especially the again strong MP5 is at the top of the list for many players. Flame tweeted:
Translation of the tweet:
“With Season 1, balance changes for weapons, scorestreaks, and more will come, if not earlier. There are already some interesting trends to observe in the data, but it’s too early for conclusions. If you provide feedback, be sure that we see and consider it.”
When does Season 1 start? The first season is expected to go live on December 10, and the developers have already announced a lot of new features. New maps, modes, the complete prestige system, and the merging of Warzone and Cold War will also be implemented.
You can find the roadmap for Season 1 here. Cold War is following the same strategy as its predecessor Modern Warfare and aims to bring fresh content with the seasons and also the battle pass is returning. The first new 6v6 map will be available even earlier – the iconic map Nuketown will be added to the game on November 24.
