Data miners have found images in the data of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War that reveal a lot about the content of Season 1. MeinMMO summarizes the new information and shows what is likely to be coming to the game on December 10th.
What happened? On the night of December 1st to 2nd, data miners released many images from the data of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which probably provide a good insight into the upcoming content. Particularly, the Twitter account “@BlackOpsLeaks” provided a lot of information about the supposed content of the first season.
MeinMMO has looked at the images and gathered the information for you.
However, keep in mind that this information is unconfirmed and should be received with some skepticism. How and what ultimately comes with Season 1 will only be revealed on December 10th, when the season goes live. Here you will find the most important information about Season 1 of Cold War.
Cold War: Leaks for Season 1, Christmas & Rebirth Island
- First look at the new Warzone map “Rebirth”
- Christmas version of the classic map Nuketown
- All new 6v6 maps for Season 1
- Skins for the new weapons
- Information on the 2v2 Gunfight mode
- Dropkick game mode
- Buyable Season 1 starter pack
- An exclusive Combat Pack for PlayStation
- Lots of information about the Battle Pass skins
- Images of cosmetic bundles that will be released soon
What’s new with the Warzone map? The latest leak aligns with player speculations. The roadmap for Season 1 already showed hints for a “Rebirth Island” map for Warzone. A leaderboard for this was even briefly in the game. Now there is the first image of it:
“Rebirth Island” is likely an updated version of a DLC map from Warzone’s predecessor “Blackout,” the battle royale from Black Ops 4. It is said to be slightly larger than the original but generally smaller than the current Warzone map “Verdansk.”
What’s new with Nuketown? The classic map was added to the game on November 24th as the first new map after release and will likely look a bit different over the holidays:
The small model town will apparently receive a Christmas makeover, with many festive elements, such as fairy lights, Christmas trees, and festive wreaths. You might also see a crazy Easter egg again. Last year, Modern Warfare included a cool Easter egg in the “Back to the Future” style.
What’s new with the 6v6 maps for Season 1? The data miners found two new 6v6 maps in the data that could be coming with Season 1:
- Raid
- Mall
“Raid” is a well-known map set on a large estate and has already been available in Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 4. With “Mall,” a completely new map is coming to the game, which can probably already be seen on the roadmap (image with “New Multiplayer Maps & Modes”).
What’s new with the new weapons? In the data, skins for two weapons that are not yet part of the arsenal in Cold War were found. A skin for a submachine gun that resembles the “MAC 11” from CoD 4 and Black Ops 1, as well as a skin for the assault rifle Groza. The data suggest that these two guns are from the Battle Pass:
The assault rifle was already part of the speculations, as players believe they have identified the Groza on the roadmap. The second weapon, however, was previously thought to be the Striker Shotgun, with speculation that the operator Adler holds it on the roadmap. However, the shotgun may come as a third weapon. In Modern Warfare, the “Season Reloaded” updates often introduced a third weapon that you could unlock through a challenge.
What’s new with the Gunfight mode? The exciting 2v2 gunfights are returning with Cold War and have already been announced for the first season. Now the maps are also known:
Four completely new maps tailored for the small mode are likely to be introduced.
What’s new with the Dropkick mode? A few days ago, the first information about the Dropkick mode leaked when the loading screen for the squad mode showed information about it (GamePro reported). Now there is supposedly an image of the mode:
The loading screen suggested: “If you die while your team holds the objective, you cannot respawn until the bearer is eliminated.” It could be a mode where you have to deliver a package to a mission objective before your team is completely wiped out. If you don’t manage that, the other team might have a chance to secure the objective and bring it to the mission site. However, how the mode ultimately looks is still not entirely clear.
What is the starter pack for Season 1? Just like Warzone, Cold War is also likely to offer a budget starter pack that allows you to secure some cosmetics and CoD points:
- CoD Points
- Adler Skin
- Level skip for the Battle Pass
- Emblem
- Calling card
The details of the package are not yet known. If it is structured similarly to the Warzone package, it will also cost around 5 euros and provide you with 500 CoD Points in addition to the cosmetics.
What is the Combat Pack for PlayStation? In the months since the release of Warzone, PlayStation players have been able to claim free skin bundles for Warzone from time to time. For all players with PlayStation Plus, this seems to be the case again in the “Cold War” era:
However, it is still unclear whether it will work like before. The image shows an operator skin, a weapon blueprint, and a watch for Warzone. But the picture lacks any hints about PlayStation.
What’s new with the Battle Pass? The images for the contents of the Battle Pass are currently not so easy to find on Twitter. One image shows 7 operator skins and 6 weapon blueprints, which are likely to be the highlights of the items from the Battle Pass of Season 1. You can see an image with 3 of the skins here:
Particularly, one operator stands out in the image with the 7 skins, who is not yet available. The character is likely named “Stitch” and comes into play with a mask. In the Battle Pass, he wears a face shield that resembles Hannibal Lecter’s muzzle from the Hannibal films.
What about other bundles? Additionally, the leak showed a lot of images of bundles that will likely come to the game soon:
- Red, Green and Purple Tracer Packs
- Bundle with a new operator: Zeyna
- Colorful skins for tanks
- Christmas bundles
- Crazy clown skin
Overall, everything looks significantly more colorful than in the predecessor Modern Warfare. Although the skins at the end of CoD MW also became crazier, Black Ops Cold War brings more color to the game right from the start.
The first season is exciting for CoD players not only because of its content. With the launch on December 10th, Warzone, CoD MW & Cold War will merge and then share a progress system. Additionally, there should be a large influx of new weapons in the battle royale, taken from Cold War. It will be interesting to see how all of this works together.
