What kind of weapon is this? The Krig 6 assault rifle from Black Ops Cold War is very similar to the Swedish licensed firearm Ak 5 (Automatkarbin 5). It is a modified version of the Belgian rifle FN FNC. The Ak 5 was manufactured in Sweden and modified to meet the needs of the subarctic climate. (via Wikipedia).
In the current Call of Duty, the former Swedish army rifle is one of the most stable automatic weapons you can put in your loadout.
Update December 21: With Season 1, the Krig 6 received a nerf to its headshot damage. You now need 2 headshots in the first damage range to save a bullet and reduce the TTK. The Krig is still a strong option, but to gain an advantage over other assault rifles, you need to be more precise now.
Original report: Due to its low rate of fire, it has a relatively high time-to-kill (TTK). However, the Krig 6 offers strong headshot damage, allowing it to outperform many competitors and even has the fastest TTK of all automatic weapons in the game under certain conditions.

Cold War: Krig 6 – Setups with high stability for strong headshots
The Krig 6 takes it rather easy in Cold War. Even without attachments, it is very easy to control, but suffers in TTK. With attachments, the weapon becomes so precise that you hardly have to make any adjustments to stay on target.
This makes it an optimal rifle for headshots, and this is where the weapon’s greatest strength lies. With just one headshot hit, you can reduce the number of bullets for a kill directly from 5 to 4, lowering the TTK to a very good value of 276 ms. Without headshots, it reaches 368 ms. The XM4 achieves 332 ms here but needs 3 headshots in the first damage range to save a bullet.
Krig 6 setup with 5 attachments
What does a strong setup look like? Since the weapon is already very stable by default, you hardly need to focus on higher control with a 5-slot setup:
- Sight: Microflex LED
- Muzzle: Suppressor
- Barrel: 19.7″ Ranger
- Magazine: Jungle Style Magazine
- Grip: Air Elastic Wrap
With this setup, you focus entirely on raising the weapon’s secondary stats to a high level. Since the range of the Krig 6 is already absolutely sufficient even without attachments, you also don’t need to improve the barrel and can fully focus on bullet velocity, which is so important in Cold War.
With the suppressor, you reduce your visibility on the minimap, and the jungle magazine helps to increase the somewhat sluggish reload speed. The elastic grip also gives the Krig 6 a very good aiming down sights time and has high flinch resistance.
If you are comfortable with the iron sights (peep & post), you can also add a grip with recoil reduction. If you haven’t done so, you should also optimize your settings:

What does a strong setup with Gunslinger look like? If you play a bit less aggressively and prefer to pressure the opponent from the second row, you can create a real laser from the weapon with the wildcard “Gunslinger”:

With this setup, the weapon is more stable than any other automatic rifle in Cold War. The Krig 6 gives you great confidence in your shots and a lot of self-assurance. The low TTK can be compensated for well, especially since you can raise the value to a top level with just one headshot.
This setup supports your fights at medium ranges and sacrifices the optimal ADS aiming speed for it. In return, you gain much better stats with your magazine and unmatched control. The flashlight also helps you recognize your enemies better.
The first damage range goes with this attachment combination up to nearly 50 meters, covering most of your fire fights. Beyond that, you need 6 bullets for a kill (TTK = 460 ms), but you can also reduce this value to 5 with just one headshot.
Strengths & weaknesses of the Krig 6
Krig 6 – Somewhere between beginner and meta weapon
Where does the weapon stand among assault rifles? The Krig 6 is a very interesting rifle that is suitable for both beginners and offers strong stats for advanced players.
It has the highest range among assault rifles and combines this value with its unmatched stability. TheXclusiveAce compared the recoils of the assault rifles without attachments:
While the Krig 6 “kicks” a bit upward after exactly 10 shots, even this jump remains well controllable. Overall, the bullets of the weapon visibly cluster tighter together than with any other assault rifle.
In addition, the weapon can hold its own against competitors in other important attributes – except for the time-to-kill without headshots. Here, the Krig 6 offers the worst value of all weapons in Cold War. This is the trade-off the weapon makes for its outstanding stability.
If you are looking for a very stable weapon that gives you the confidence that your shots will hit, then go for the Krig 6. If you also consider yourself a good headshot shooter, then the weapon is also worth a look for you, even if you usually prefer guns with low TTK.
How to minimize the TTK? Another interesting fact about the Krig 6: Theoretically, it also has the lowest TTK potential of all automatic weapons.
The barrel “15” CMV, Military” increases the damage of the assault rifle slightly and causes headshots in the first damage range to hit with 51 damage. If you therefore take out your enemy with 3 headshots, it only takes 184 ms. Thus, the weapon approaches the values of the burst rifles.
The 3 burst weapons in the game offer the lowest TTK values, alongside one-shot rifles and are otherwise unmatched. It’s crazy that the weapon with the highest TTK can keep up with that.
