This week you can unlock a new weapon for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and CoD Warzone – the tactical rifle CARV.2. But how do you get this new weapon? And when does it come into play?
What is this new weapon all about? In CoD Cold War and the Battle Royale Warzone, the Season 3 is currently running. The start of the new season was not even 2 weeks ago and already brought some new weapons – including the submachine gun PPSh-41 or the sniper rifle K31. And already this week the next new weapon is set to follow – the CARV.2.

New Tactical Rifle CARV.2 Coming – Here’s How to Unlock It
What kind of weapon is the CARV.2 anyway? The CARV.2 will expand the range of tactical rifles with another specimen. According to the developers, this new weapon fires in bursts and stands out in its weapon category mainly due to a high bullet speed, significant damage, solid recoil control, and a generous ammunition supply. Visually, the CARV.2 strongly resembles the G-11 from Heckler & Koch.
Through indirect means and with RNG luck, you can already try out the new weapon in the Zombie mode of Black Ops Cold War as well as in private Warzone matches. Here you can already check out gameplay of the new weapon:
Here’s how you can try out the weapon early: In Zombies and Outbreak, you need to hope for RNG luck in Trials missions.
In Warzone, you need to select “Warzone Orientation” in Private Matches & Practice. You don’t have to play the actual training first. Just drop your 1911 pistol. Then you should receive a primary weapon instead – it will either be the CARV.2 or the FARA 83. Most of the time it will be the FARA, but with a bit of luck, you might also get the new tactical rifle.
It will be exciting to see how the weapon performs in daily multiplayer and whether it makes it into the top weapons for CoD Warzone and the best weapons for traditional multiplayer.
When exactly does the CARV.2 come into play? The weapon will find its way into the game with an update on May 6.
The CARV.2 is coming earlier than many expected. So far, speculation has centered on the mid-season update as a potential release date.
How can you unlock the CARV.2? The new tactical rifle will be available in 2 ways – via an in-game challenge and through a new bundle in the in-game store.
The challenge does not require anything superhuman and asks you to quickly kill at least 2 enemies with tactical rifles in 10 different games.
The bundle is called the “Plastic Prototype” pack, which includes 4 items – including the “Console” blueprint. This is a cosmetic version of the CARV.2 with some selected attachments.
