With Genshin Impact, a new free-to-play coop RPG that gives the impression of a multiplayer Zelda, is on the way. At the end of September, you will dive into the adventure on PC and mobile devices.
When exactly does Genshin Impact come out? The coop RPG has its release date set for September 28. This date, however, applies only to the PC version and the version for iOS and Android devices.
However, Genshin Impact has also been announced for PS4. When the release on console will be, has not yet been specified.
Does this release date also apply to us? The development studio stated that it is a global launch. This means Genshin Impact will start internationally on the same day.
A coop RPG like Zelda
What is special about it? Genshin Impact offers crossplay. This means that whether you play on PC or a mobile device, you can act together in the world. This is supposed to be the case even for the PS4 version once it starts.
What exactly does Genshin Impact have to offer? The role-playing game comes from the Chinese company miHoYo, is developed by around 500 people and graphically resembles a playable anime. In terms of gameplay, the title gives the impression of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – but with a coop mode.
The vast landscapes, the exploration of the oceans, and the design of the monsters could have come straight out of a current Zelda game.
This has even led to criticism. Because Zelda fans claimed that Genshin Impact is just a “copy” of the well-known Nintendo game series.
What can you expect in the game? A beta of the free-to-play RPG has been playable on PS4 for some time. Do not expect an MMO. Instead, Genshin Impact plays, according to testers, like a single-player RPG that you can play cooperatively. You even have to play alone for a period before you can invite up to three players after level 16 to tackle the more challenging quests and challenges of the dungeons.
The developers explained that PvP will also be possible later.
Genshin Impact sends you into a huge world where you face monsters in action-packed battles. In addition, you complete quests that guide you through the story. Especially exciting is that you can switch between the characters you have in the group – at least if you are playing alone or if not every character is assigned to a player. These switches are important and you need to use them strategically in battles, as each hero has different abilities.
