What is now known? With a teaser, Call of Duty officially confirmed the name of CoD 2022: Modern Warfare 2. We embed the short teaser here:
What else is known? Officially, very little is known about MW2 at this point. The studio “Infinity Ward” is leading the development and has already confirmed that it is a sequel to CoD MW from 2019.
There will also be a story campaign and a multiplayer mode. Basically, that’s all there is to official information.
What do leaks suspect? For months, however, the leak machinery has been running at full speed and information occasionally leaks through. The most important key data we list for you here:
- It will probably be the last CoD on the old consoles (PS4, Xbox One)
- The new CoD may come a month earlier than usual (already in October)
- The campaign may continue the story of CoD MW
- There will be a collaboration with Warzone again, possibly even directly Warzone 2
- Co-op mode probably DMZ – could be based on ‘Escape from Tarkov’
- The multiplayer is expected to benefit from many map remakes
- Since CoD 2023 is likely to be skipped, CoD MW2 will be the largest title in the shooter series so far

When will the full reveal happen? Leaks currently anticipate a reveal on May 30, 2022. That day also saw the introduction of CoD MW 2019. The new teaser has made the date much more likely now.
Very little is yet known about the new Call of Duty 2022. However, many players have high expectations for the shooter, as the last premium titles, Vanguard and Cold War, did not have the impact of the most successful CoD title so far: CoD MW 2019.
