Many fans are wondering what will happen with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and the map from its own Battle Royale mode Blackout. Now, the developers have finally addressed the issue.
In Blackout, a dedicated Battle Royale mode of Black Ops 4, the game world currently consists of a map that has not changed since the game’s release. But what’s next? Is another map coming? Will the existing game world change? Treyarch has now provided clarity.
Black Ops 4 will not receive new maps for Blackout
The long guessing game has come to an end. The Studio Design Director at Treyarch, David Vonderhaar, has responded to some fan questions on this topic on Twitter.

This is how the game world of Blackout will continue: He shared in a tweet that there are currently no plans to provide the Blackout mode in Black Ops 4 with new maps – at least for the moment. This could change in the future.
Instead, the focus is currently on expanding the existing game world by adding new elements or adjusting existing ones, thereby changing the map.
This should please many fans. After all, new areas in the form of excerpts from other popular maps, such as Hijacked (a yacht off the coast) or Carrier (a sinking aircraft carrier), have been loudly demanded since the release.

When will the first changes arrive? When asked when to expect the first changes, Vonderhaar replied that while he cannot say, “it’s already happening,” he has already played it.
The first adjustments to the map shouldn’t take too long to appear. However, it was not revealed what specific changes are in store.
Black Ops 4 is following a similar path as Fortnite: With this decision, CoD: Black Ops 4 is thus taking a similar approach to its biggest direct competitor, Fortnite.

There, the only map of the Battle Royale mode is also constantly changing. Sometimes it’s small details, and sometimes the map changes significantly. However, it is constantly evolving. In comparison, the second major competitor PUBG relies on additional maps in its philosophy.
Already with the black market, a kind of in-game shop where content can be purchased through increased gameplay in multiplayer and Blackout as well as with Call of Duty points (CoD points), a similar path was taken. This model is most comparable to Fortnite’s battle pass.
What do you think of this news? Are changes like this enough for you? Or would you have preferred a completely new map?
