The Western version of the Korean Free2Play MMORPG Cabal 2 is facing closure. In the coming months, the servers are set to be shut down. Curiously, the predecessor will continue to live on.
Who still remembers Cabal 2, the successor to Cabal Online? The South Korean online RPG with action combat system was released here in 2015 and is developed by ESTgames.
Unfortunately, the game seems to have no bright future ahead.
“Unfortunately, we did not meet players’ tastes”
In a message to the community, the developers at ESTgames have sadly announced that Cabal 2 will soon be dead. Unfortunately, they did not find the tastes of enough players to keep the game profitable.
Over the next few months, Cabal 2 will go offline. Currently, you can no longer top up eCoins, the real money currency of Cabal 2. In the coming days, the developers wish to release more information about the fate of the game.
The predecessor Cabal Online is still living
Curiously, the predecessor of Cabal 2, Cabal Online, seems to be continuing. The game from 2005 has been playable for free on Steam since February 2016. However, players are also complaining about empty servers there.
According to Steam Charts, there are on average around 100 players online. In 2014, Cabal Online had over 26 million players. Outside of Valve’s distribution platform, there might be a few more.
