Many guardians are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the new DLC for Destiny 2. So far, there is little information, but Bungie has made a mistake and at least revealed the price of one edition.
What has been revealed? As Paul Tassi, a well-known figure in the Destiny community and editor for the news site “Forbes”, stated, after the chessboard update in Destiny 2, a new product from Bungie was temporarily offered for a short time (source: forbes.com), which was later removed.
This was the “Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Collectors Edition”. Paul Tassi suspects this is the edition for the upcoming expansions “Apollo” and “Behemoth”, which are meant to entertain players after The Final Shape. It has not been listed what the edition will include, but what is known is the price.
Price could anger some players
Why is the price controversial? The price for the edition is set at $275. At first, this isn’t unusual, as this price is the same as the collector’s edition of The Final Shape.
However, if you break down the price and leave out the goodies from the edition, it amounts to between $80 – $100. If this were a large expansion like “The Final Shape”, it wouldn’t be a problem, but as Bungie has stated, Codename: Frontiers will be smaller in scope.
Fewer raids and dungeons are to be released, and the scope of the two expansions, Apollo and Behemoth, are said to represent not large but medium-sized expansions. More events will take place, but overall there will be less to do.
If the price remains the same, even though the content is less, many fans will be skeptical and might refrain from making a purchase.
When will there be new information about Codename: Frontiers? Bungie has already scheduled a new stream for Destiny 2 on May 6. This is set to take place at 18:00 German time. New details about “Edge of Fate”, the new expansion of the loot shooter, will be reported there. We will have to wait and see what Bungie has to announce.
