Borderlands 4 has provided a new look at the roadmap for 2026. You can expect a ton of updates, including free ones.
Here is the new information: Borderlands 4 has presented the roadmap for 2026 and promised numerous new contents for fans of the looter shooter. In total, you will receive two free major updates and 6 paid DLCs.
The highlights of the year will be the major story packs, which will include new campaign missions and a new vault hunter.

Here is how the year will unfold: In the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), you can expect 2 paid DLCs: the Bounty Pack 2 and the Story Pack 1.
First to be released is the Bounty Pack 2 “Legend of the Stone Demon,” which is scheduled for February. This will bring, among other things, a new mission and the Pearlescent rarity tier for your gear. This is even better and rarer than legendary items.
Following the Bounty Pack 2, the first quarter will feature the Story Pack “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned” with the first new vault hunter “Cash,” which Gearbox had already shown in a short teaser in 2025. In addition, the Story Pack will deliver a new region on the map as well as several new story missions.
In the second quarter, there will be 2 free updates that will provide you with a new raid boss and a new takedown. The quarter will be completed by Bounty Pack 3, which is paid.
In the third quarter, you will get the also paid Bounty Packs 4 and 5, although it is not yet known what to expect. The same goes for Story Pack 2, which is set to conclude the third quarter.
Here is how you can play the upcoming DLCs: The free updates are of course freely available, but you will have to purchase the new bounty and story packs. These are sold separately.
If you purchased one of the premium editions upon the release of the looter shooter, the new content is partially included in them. The deluxe edition includes the bounty packs, while the super deluxe edition contains both the bounty packs and the story packs.
