In Borderlands 3, you can choose from a total of four different characters. If you have decided on Zane, you will find a build suggestion for a lot of damage here.
What makes Zane special? Aside from being an entertaining character in Borderlands 3, what sets him apart is primarily this ability: he can select two Action Skills simultaneously if he gives up grenades. This makes him extremely complex and offers many build possibilities.
Who is this build suitable for? The suggested build focuses on dealing as much damage as possible without getting too much in the line of fire. It is suitable for solo players who want to take out as many enemies as possible. However, this Zane variant is also useful in co-op.
If you plan to try out the various grenade types in the game, this may not be the perfect build for you. This build relies on two different Action Skills, forfeiting the grenade slot. But: You don’t have to completely forgo explosives.
Skill for Zane: The Talents in English
These are Zane’s talents: Like the other characters, the agent comes with three skill trees. These are:
- Doppelagent
- Assassin
- Undercover
The “Undercover” skill tree unlocks the Action Skill “Barrier”. With this skill, Zane gets a shield behind which he and his teammates can hide. A rather useful defensive tactic – especially in co-op.
In this build, however, we focus on the skill trees “Assassin” and “Doppelagent”. This gives you two important helpers for Zane: the remote-controlled drone “SNTL” and a Digi-Clone.
Both the drone and your doppelgänger can assist you in thinning out enemy ranks without getting caught in the crossfire themselves, thanks to many passive skills.
Lots of Damage Through Drone and Digi-Clone
This is how you should distribute your skills: We start with the Digi-Clone. Your doppelgänger draws enemy fire, attacks on its own, and gives you the opportunity to swap places with it. This way, you can quickly escape combat if necessary.
To maximize the potential of the clone, distribute your skill points like this:
The most important skills from “Doppelagent”: The doppelgänger is supposed to help you attack enemies from multiple directions. The talent tree offers many passive abilities that, for example, extend Action Skill time or increase your weapon damage and speed when you defeat enemies. Here are the helpful skills:
- Synchronization
- Borrowed Time
- Commotion
- Supersonic
- Boom and Better
- Light Trick
- Breather
The more enemies you defeat, the stronger Zane and his Digi-Clone become. With Action Skill extensions, you can use “Binary System” and “Double Blaster”. Both allow you to deal damage through swapping places or by exploding the doppelgänger while you wreak havoc elsewhere on the battlefield. At the same time, your shield is recharged.
Lastly, your Digi-Clone needs the following abilities:
- Fractal Grenades
- Sticky Mod
- Dual Shot
- Old-U
These abilities allow Zane to use grenades – without using the grenade slot. Both Zane and the clone can automatically distribute grenades to a certain percentage while firing – even with the currently equipped grenade mod.
The “Dual Shot” gives the doppelgänger a copy of Zane’s weapon, which is also useful when you have a strong or at least special weapon on you. Old-U is your insurance: When you are fighting for your life, you can simply sacrifice the clone and re-enter the fray with renewed strength. This helps, especially when focusing on the offensive.
This is how you use SNTL
The most important “Assassin” skills: With the “SNTL” drone, you get another helper focused primarily on offense.
Complement your existing skills with the following skill distribution:
The passive abilities: The second skill tree helps you maximize the damage and duration of your kill skills, increase your speed, and deal more elemental damage. Additionally, the drone throws grenades when needed.
The skills used are:
- SNTL
- Speed Over Corpses
- Brutal Swing
- Drone Delivery
- Death Lurking Everywhere
- Stasis Field
- Sleeping Gas
The combination of these two trees should allow you to fight your way effortlessly through the Borderlands – even if you are playing solo. After all, Zane has two homemade partners to accompany him.
Of course, this is just one of many possibilities – the Undercover tree, for example, is not considered.
If you are playing with another character anyway, maybe these builds are something for you:
