Borderlands 3 is available to you for free this weekend. You can try out the popular loot shooter on Steam, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. If you haven’t been able to convince yourself to purchase it yet, now is the perfect opportunity to get to know the game extensively.
What is this event? Gearbox has announced a free weekend for Borderlands 3 in line with the currently ongoing anniversary events. On Steam, it’s even more like a free week.
The times vary depending on the platform, but the event has already started on each platform:
- Steam – August 6, 5:00 PM to August 12, 7:00 PM
- PS4 – August 6, 6:00 PM to August 9, 6:00 PM
- Xbox One – August 6, 9:00 AM to August 10, 9:00 AM
- Stadia – August 6, 6:00 PM to August 10, 6:00 PM
Search for the Borderlands 3 Standard Edition on the respective platform, and there should be a button that says “Free Demo” or something similar.
What can be tested exactly? During the event, you have access to all the content of the base game. You can create a vault hunter, visit numerous planets, fight against the Calypso twins, and of course, grab lots of loot.
However, you will have to forgo the contents of the DLCs, such as the new areas and the new level cap from “Blood Money”.
If you decide to purchase Borderlands 3 at the end of the free period, you will also retain your previous game progress. Coinciding with the free weekend, the shooter is on sale on all platforms.
