As part of PAX Online and the birthday of Borderlands 3, new details about the future of the loot shooter were shared. It is set to be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X and will also receive another DLC at the end of the year, which is said to be quite different.
What was announced? Borderlands 3 is set to be released for the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. Those who already own a corresponding version for PS4 or Xbox One can look forward to a free upgrade on the console of the same manufacturer.
Additionally, with the new generation, new options will be added:
- Borderlands will support 4K and 60 FPS
- For the first time ever, 4-player split-screen will be possible
- There will also be a vertical split-screen, which MeinMMO author Max Handwerk demanded as early as the game’s release. This split-screen will also be unlocked for PS4 and Xbox One for free.
Furthermore, another paid update is planned, which is set to be released in 2020. However, it is expected to differ significantly from the content of the previous DLCs.
DLC brings new skill trees and new game mode
What does the new DLC bring? Just on September 10, the fourth and final DLC from the current season pass was released. Yet another update is expected to be released this year, referred to in the press release as a “paid add-on”.
This is expected to include a completely new game mode, as well as new skill trees for the 4 playable characters in Borderlands 3. The developers have already hinted at what these skill trees might look like for FL4K:
- He will get the new “Trapper” tree
- This will provide shields and protect the survival skills of him and a pet.
- Included is the new action skill “Gravity Snare”, a trap that can be thrown and first lifts opponents into the air and then slams them to the ground. This will be the first CC that FL4K gets.
- Through the skill tree, you can also earn a new companion: a Hyperion Loaderbot.
