BlizzCon 2026 Opening Ceremony – All important announcements and trailers in overview

The Opening Ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 is over. MeinMMO has summarized the most important announcements, reveals, and trailers for you.

Warcraft

Warcraft Forever

• The highly anticipated “Classic+” is called Warcraft Forever and will be released on November 4, 2026. The beta starts next Thursday.
• In Warcraft Forever, the maximum level remains at 60. The game focuses on the community, so aspects like progression, story, and upgrades will be based on community suggestions.

World of Warcraft

• For the retail expansion “Midnight,” the major content patch “Eclipse” was presented, where the villain Xal’atath nearly achieves her goals.

• With “The Last Titan,” we return to Northrend. Early next year, players will also be able to relive highlights from WoW.

Warcraft III Reforged

• Warcraft III Reforged surprisingly receives a brand new campaign called “Forsaken Kingdom,” which will be playable on the same day.
• The expansion costs €30, and in a bundle with the base game, it is €50.

Diablo

Diablo V

• Diablo 5 has been officially announced for Spring 2029. The world is burning, there are no protective cities left, and the titular Diablo is returning.

Diablo IV

• The Amazon has been revealed as a new class for Diablo 4. She fights with a bow and spear and will debut in the first half of 2027.
• Diablo 4 will be released on September 15, coinciding with Season 15 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
• For the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Deckard (Cain) is returning from the dead to guide players through the story and highlights. There will be new challenges from the three major villains and a return of popular treasures.

Diablo Franchise

• An animated Diablo series will be released on Netflix. Series about Overwatch and Warcraft are currently also in discussion.

StarCraft

• A completely new StarCraft has been announced for the year 2030. The trailer confirmed that the Zerg will continue to pose a threat.

Overwatch

• A new hero named Doctrine (a vampire with shadow abilities) will appear next month with the new season. A trial for him will be playable immediately after the announcement.
• For Season 6, another mysterious hero has also been teased, who will function as an investigator.
• A special Overwatch tabletop game was introduced at BlizzCon, developed by scene guru Matthew Mercer. Whether it will ever be playable afterwards remains unclear.

Heroes of the Storm

• The MOBA is receiving new updates: Xal’atath (from WoW) is coming as a new heroine in the Nexus and will be playable on Monday on the test servers (PTR).
• Further heroes have already been announced for the future of the game.

Hearthstone

• On October 20, the expansion “Reign of the Black Empire” will be released, which takes place thousands of years in the past of Azeroth.
• A new feature will allow cards to fuse together. Additionally, a 2-vs.-2 game mode will be introduced.
