At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard officials unexpectedly announced the return of Heroes of the Storm. If you want to check out the MOBA again, you can now secure some gifts.
What’s free for HotS? Go to the Blizzard shop and secure the free package for Heroes of the Storm™: “Nexus Terrorwolf.” The package provides you with:
- Mount: Nexus Terrorwolf
- 30-day boost for gold and experience points
- Gift portrait from BlizzCon 2026 featuring popular characters from Heroes of the Storm

The gift is expected to be available in the Blizzard shop until September 27, 2026.
Also grab the Quick Tinkerer Thrall! There’s a second free treat that you can currently secure in the Blizzard shop! The skin “Quick Tinkerer Thrall” gives the Horde hero a new look. You can secure the gift until September 28, 2026.
Unexpected Revival
What’s happening in HotS? Blizzard’s MOBA had been in maintenance mode for years. There were only minimal patches and balance adjustments. However, at BlizzCon 2026, the developers ended the hibernation of Heroes of the Storm! With Xal’atath, a new hero is coming to the Nexus on September 28!
Additionally, the developers hinted that HotS fans can look forward to more additions. How far this revival will go ultimately depends on how many players will find their way to the HotS servers in the coming weeks and months.
