In Season 7 of Diablo 4, Blizzard makes it easier to hand in whisper tasks and obtain strong loot. Not only is the submission location overhauled, but also the loot chests you receive.
The “Whispering Tree” is now a good place for materials and loot. Thus, it belongs to the best farming spots for numerous items in the endgame of Diablo 4. You will receive loot chests there when you exchange your collected gifts, which you earn for whisper tasks in the open world. This now also includes endgame activities such as Uber bosses and the Under City of Kurast.
The whisper tasks are intended to be not only more important but also faster to submit in Season 7. In the “Campfire Chat” livestream on YouTube, the developers reported on November 21 what they have planned for the “Whispering Tree”.
Chests with “bequeathed” items and the Tree’s Ravens
Changes to be made to the tasks:
- The layout of the place at the “Whispering Tree” will be reworked, allowing you to reach the tree faster from the waypoint.
- The merchants will be rearranged, and more will be added: Alchemist, Armory, Curio Dealer, and Healer.
- There will be “Ravens of the Tree” in areas where there are whisper tasks. At the ravens, you can also exchange your gifts for loot chests, so you don’t have to always return to the tree when you are in the “flow”, Dan Tanguay, the lead designer for seasons, notes.
- There will be loot chests containing ancestral items. Tanguay explains that these have “a relatively low drop rate” but guarantee an ancestral item when you receive one of these chests. Ancestral items, or also “bequeathed” items are a major point of criticism in Season 6 that Blizzard intends to address in various ways.
Dan Tanguay explains that players will visit the city more often in Season 7 and will rely much more on the services there. Design Director Colin Finer reminds that there is an option to favorite waypoints. This is particularly helpful for the new “Witch City”. Some players have only recently discovered the new feature.
Why will players use the location often? The new mechanic in Season 7 of Diablo 4 is the powers of witchcraft. You can utilize the powers and learn special abilities. To learn new powers, you farm the season’s renown, which you receive among other sources for seasonal whisper tasks, and sacrifice it at the altar at the “Whispering Tree”. With the “Quality of Life” changes, Blizzard aims to make the process more convenient.
