Since Season 12, there is a feature in Diablo 4 that allows you to increase the difficulty yourself. However, for many players, this was a bit too harsh, which is why Blizzard is now making adjustments. We summarize the highlights from the patch notes for Update 2.6.1 for you.
What is this feature? With blood-soaked seals, you can specifically increase the challenge in Diablo 4. The content activated with the seal is about one torment level above your current level. It gets really tough with the blood-soaked seals, as the difficulty here corresponds roughly to the dungeon level 100. And when they drop, there’s basically no turning back – more on that shortly.
As many players struggled with this challenge, Blizzard is now delivering a patch including various bug fixes. The patch 2.6.1 will be released on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. You can find the detailed English patch notes on page 2 of the article.
Weaker blood-soaked seals for better chances of success
What is Blizzard changing about the seals? The developers are significantly lowering the difficulty of the blood-soaked seals. As stated in the patch notes:
We have received feedback that players could not reasonably complete the blood-soaked seals after unlocking them. By significantly reducing the difficulty level, we hope that all players who have access to blood-soaked content will have a better chance of success.
This change is likely to be well received in the community. In a Reddit thread, user Golandia criticized the lack of balance of the blood-soaked seals. NailMiserable4992 also agrees: he felt ready for the content on torment 2 until he tried the blood-soaked seals. “I understand they are supposed to be harder, but the difference is immense,” he explains.
Can one simply do without the seals? In fact, the blood-soaked seals seem to drop only when you have completed the dungeon at level 100. But according to Diablo expert wudijo, after that ALL seals that drop for activities are blood-soaked (source: YouTube). If you want to continue farming “easier” content after completing the dungeon level, you would first need to create a new character and collect different seals with it.
The new equipment in Kael Rill’s butcher shop is being received positively. There you will have a treasure chest and a blacksmith available. So you can gamble for blood-soaked items and pick up seasonal rewards without having to constantly change locations when you want to access your chest. There is criticism on Reddit that the patch does not change anything about the drop rates for Obduzit. Many players complain that it is difficult to obtain the necessary masses of the material for completion in Season 12.
