Blizzard may be working on a new, unannounced PvE game. At least, that is suggested by two job postings from the company.
Blizzard published new job listings on their career page. The company is looking for a Creative Director and a Principal Designer in combat for a new game, among other positions.
So far, it has not been specified for which game the employees are being sought. It has only been referred to as an “unannounced project.”
Now there is speculation that Blizzard could be working on a new PvE game – delivering exactly what players had wished for in Overwatch 2.
What do the job descriptions say? The job listing from Blizzard states that the new Creative Director will be responsible for developing and improving the previously unannounced project.
The person will “oversee the narrative and visual design and lead the development of the story and world for the unannounced project.”
The Principal Designer, Combat will also oversee the conception and production of all elements in the unannounced project that ensure that “combat feels intuitive to learn, challenging to master, and satisfyingly fun.” Additionally, the combat experience should influence players, foes, and the game’s environment.
The job listing further describes that the focus should include making the monsters exciting and interesting opponents that “range from initial threats to legendary boss battles that players will talk about for decades to come.”
After Blizzard had announced the PvE mode in Overwatch 2 for four years, only to stop work on it in May 2023, this caused significant discontent among players.
Perhaps now the new project could address this and provide gamers with a corresponding combat experience that they have long wished for in the hero shooter.
