At the launch of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Blizzard is running some promotions on Twitch. Through “Drops”, you can secure in-game content for free. The highlight is probably the Fel Drake as a mount. Previously, it was only available through the WoW trading card game. Reactions are mixed.
What kind of mount is this and what makes it special? The Fel Drake is a classic dragon, reminiscent of black dragons, but exhibits the typical green glow of Fel corruption on the tips of its wings and its claws.
The mount has actually been in the game for many years. However, it was previously only obtainable through the WoW trading card game. It could be found in boosters by chance and was sold to collectors through platforms like eBay and others.
The prices for such mounts can be horrendously high. Someone bought the Spectral Tiger for 4,300 Euros. Currently, in the German market, there is only an offer for 1,999 Euros.
On US sites, the mount has been traded for up to 3,000 to 3,500 US dollars (via Gamespot). The prices are partly due to the fact that the cards have not been printed since 2013. Accordingly, the mount has been quite rare until now. Was, because it will soon be given away for free.
How can I get the dragon? Blizzard is giving away various Twitch Drops in November for the release of Dragonflight, which you just have to watch certain streams to receive. If you watch the streamers long enough, you will receive loot.

While many fans are happy that they no longer have to spend huge sums of money for such a rare mount, previous owners are quite upset about it.

This is what fans say: There are a few players who are upset that their rare mount is now being devalued. However, most cannot understand why anyone would spend so much money on a mount.
In a thread on Reddit, players are discussing the topic. It is mentioned there that many owners had the mount just to show off – while it hadn’t really interested anyone else.
Moreover, very few would have actually paid such a price. When the trading card game was still active, one could have gotten the dragon for 150 US dollars or less. That now everyone can have the mount is just unfortunate. MeinMMO reader Scaver comments: “The danger has always existed. The only advantage is that they had the mount much earlier. But there was never a guarantee of exclusivity.”
However, an owner of the dragon tells the anecdote that he received his loot card from a groom in his guild for whom he was the best man. For him, the dragon is worth more than anything else, even if everyone gets the mount just by logging in.
It is likely just frustrating for a Reddit user who says he has had the card for ages and now wanted to sell it for a hefty price with the release of Dragonflight. That likely won’t happen now.
