The developers of Diablo 4 have advised to keep Uber Uniques. In patch 1.3.2, they explain the reason for this: With a new system, you should be able to craft them yourself – provided you have collected some.
Uber Uniques are special items that are even more powerful than unique items. They can significantly strengthen almost any build and are an integral part of many of the best builds in Season 2.
In December 2023, some players expressed the desire for a “bad luck protection”, essentially a protection against receiving duplicate Ubers. The developers stated that they had planned changes regarding this.
They advised to keep Uber Uniques in any case – even if you don’t necessarily “need” them. The reason was announced with the patch notes for 1.3.2.
New system allows the crafting of Uber Uniques
Why should you keep Uber Uniques? On February 9, the patch notes for 1.3.2 were released. There, the developers state they have heard the feedback that duplicate or unwanted drops of Uber Uniques diminish the sense of achievement.
With the upcoming update, they want to integrate a new system in Diablo 4 that gives players more freedom regarding desired Uber Uniques. Patch 1.3.2 brings “Uber Unique Crafting” into the game:
A new system allows players to make use of duplicate and unwanted Uber unique items by collecting them for a new resource with which they can eventually craft an Uber unique item of their choice.

How does the crafting work? The update is designed to enable the transmutation of Uber Uniques. You can collect Uber Uniques to obtain “Magnificent Sparks” – a new resource in Diablo 4. You can then bring 5 “Magnificent Sparks” to the alchemist and craft an Uber Unique of your choice.
The developers note that the “Refine Resources” tab of the alchemist will be renamed to “Transmute.” There, you should also find the option to craft an Uber Unique. However, the preview window for crafting does not display the affixes of the item (source: Blizzard).
“How are casual players supposed to find 5 Uber Uniques?”
What does the community say about this? Community Manager Adam Fletcher shared the patch notes on February 9 on X in a post. Some users are excited about the change. Some are asking how many “Sparks” you get per Uber Unique.
Diablo creator Chronikz remarks in the comment that he appreciates being able to trade in his unused Uber Uniques. However, he also wonders how a casual player is supposed to find 5 Uber Uniques and whether “Magnificent Sparks” can be traded.
Whether you receive one “Magnificent Spark” per Uber Unique and therefore need to collect five of the super-rare items to be able to craft one is currently unclear. Apparently, that is what a large part of the community has understood based on the information.
Additionally, the drop rate of Uber Uniques will be increased with patch 1.3.2 outside of the runs against the boss Duriel.
