Black Desert will be expanding this winter with a new PvP mode called Shadow Arena. Guilds can also participate in the new Territory War, where they compete alongside other guilds from their region against other regions.
Black Desert is also jumping on the battle royale bandwagon. The new mode Shadow Arena allows you to play as a small, cute black spirit. In the new Territory Wars, you fight side by side with members of other guilds from the same region for dominance in Black Desert.
Shadow Arena is a new battle royale mode
What is the Shadow Arena? In the Shadow Arena, you start as a black spirit and must possess stationary NPCs to fight through them. The NPCs take on the forms of the existing classes in Black Desert Online. The classes do not have access to their powerful awakening abilities.

All players start with the same poor gear but can find chests in the field or defeat monsters to strengthen their character. The gear of defeated opponents can also be looted and worn.
In terms of gameplay, Shadow Arena is similar to other battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG. With the addition of a battle royale mode, Black Desert is keeping up with the trend. The Shadow Arena is set to be released this winter.
Players think: Most players have received the announcement of the Shadow Arena positively. They praise that the mode gives new players access to PvP in Black Desert, as players do not have to grind for weeks to prepare their characters.

However, there is also criticism from players. Some believe that developer Pearl Abyss should have invested resources in other problem areas of the game.
Players can look forward to large scale PvP in the future
Calpheon against Valencia: In Black Desert, there are different regions that players can freely travel through as adventurers, but they are often not friendly towards each other. Particularly between the two areas Calpheon and Valencia, a conflict has been brewing that will soon break out.
Currently, guild members can fight for regions or nodes on the map. Guilds are restricted to confrontations with each other. However, in the new Territory War mode, all guilds controlling nodes of level 3 or 4 in Valencia or Calpheon will fight against all guilds from the respective other area. A massive battle between several guilds will ignite for dominance in Valencia and Calpheon.

How the Mediah area will be integrated into the new PvP mode is still under discussion. It is being discussed that player guilds in Mediah could decide which side they want to fight on. When Territory War will be released is not yet known. According to developer Pearl Abyss, the mode has a high priority internally.
A new zone is coming: Players travel to O’dyllita
In addition to the two PvP modes, Black Desert will also be expanded with a new area. O’Dyllita is a formerly inaccessible area west of Calpheon.
Collaboration will be rewarded: In the area, you wander through the remnants of the former inhabitants and encounter the tribe of the Turo. Turo are large, powerful beasts that resemble cows in appearance. They move in groups of two to three individuals and should be attacked by multiple players, as several players can loot the remains.
You can take a look at the new area in our image gallery.
In addition to the Turo, players will also encounter the Ahib. Ahib can be defeated alone and reward players with better rewards compared to other monsters of the same level. However, Ahib have abilities with a CC effect, which can quickly become problematic.
However, Black Desert will first see the addition of a new class. Black Desert: Hooray, the new class is coming to Europe immediately.
