In League of Legends there is a new item on the test server that you definitely should not buy. The tank item “Heartsteel” can apparently trigger a permanent ban and is currently affecting some players who want to test new items in LoL. Riot is already working on a fix.
This is the situation: In LoL, the Worlds are currently happening. For the best players in the world, it is all or nothing.
But in the game, the “experiment phase” has begun. After the end of Season 12 and before the start of Season 13, Riot Games is experimenting with daring changes on the test server PBE.
But a new feature is apparently going very wrong now.
New tank item provides permanent health points, is way too strong
What kind of item is this?
- Heartsteel is a new mythical item for 3,200 gold that grants health points and health point regeneration, as well as some skill tempo. The item was previously called “Goliath’s Ascendancy”.
- The catch of the item: You can execute a hit that is stronger the more maximum health you have yourself. Even crazier: The hit permanently adds health points to your own champion, making you progressively more powerful and tough. Experts call this “infinite scaling”.
- When the item came to the test server, some said on reddit : The item is too crazy, especially with the permanent health points as a bonus. In ARAM everyone is now playing this, as it is so easy to get permanent health points with it that practically everyone becomes a tank.
A LoL player has taken the item to the absurd and has skyrocketed to an unbelievably high number of health points, so that he hits extremely hard with the proc of the hit, with numbers beyond comprehension.
It can be assumed that Heartsteel in this form will not make it to the live servers, but will remain a wild experiment in the pre-season.
Players permanently banned due to cheating – apparently due to item
This is now the problem with the item: As a LoL player said on Twitter on October 27, he and teammates were permanently banned after a match on the test server.
They were accused of using a “third-party tool” or a “cheating program”. He cannot explain what is going on.
Other users on reddit say they were suddenly banned for cheating on the PBE – they cannot explain it at all.
One says: He is only playing against bots, you wouldn’t cheat there. He has invested so much in his account, has everything from the shop – that would be a huge loss.
Many other users also respond in the discussion under the thread, stating that they too have been banned.
As common ground emerges gradually, it turns out that all of them had purchased the new item “Heartsteel”.
In the English-speaking gaming press, it has been assumed since this morning that Heartsteel is apparently responsible for the bans (via dotesports).
This is what Riot says: Riot Games has not yet commented on whether the bans on the PBE are really due to Heartsteel.
But they say they have received many reports of such bans “at the same time”, are currently looking into it, and are “working hard on a fix”.
However, there is no date yet for when players will be unbanned,
This information is provided by a player who wrote a support ticket and received a reasonable response. Not everyone can say that: Some users share responses from Riot Games that dismiss their complaints, simply stating that they have looked into it, the ban is justified, and will remain in place.
However, it can be assumed that Riot Games will soon resolve the issue with the permanent PBE bans – we likely won’t see the item much longer.
