The popular Elder Scrolls series from Bethesda is celebrating its 30th anniversary. On this occasion, Bethesda released a short retrospective of the series, and finally, there was a brief update on The Elder Scrolls 6.

series is one of the largest and most beloved RPGs of all time. To properly celebrate this anniversary, Bethesda published a message on X reflecting on the long history. In the message, new details about the Skyrim successor The Elder Scrolls 6

What’s new about TES 6? Since the announcement of TES 6 at E3 in June 2018 with a brief teaser, not much has happened, as Bethesda has been occupied with the space RPG Starfield in recent years. The head of Starfield, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls, Todd Howard, admitted that the way The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced was not the best idea.
But now there is finally a little news that ignites the excitement of Skyrim fans: The next chapter is in development and is apparently already being played by the developers.

Last but not least: Yes, we are working on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls 6. […] Even now, as we return to Tamriel and play the early versions, it fills us with the same joy, excitement, and sense of adventure.
So there are already playable versions of The Elder Scrolls 6. According to statements from Bethesda, the next Elder Scrolls could again take place on the vast continent of Tamriel – just like Skyrim, Morrowind, and Oblivion.
What else was said? Bethesda thanked the loyal fans in the message for contributing to the series’ growth and survival over the years. It’s amazing to see how much the series has grown and how much it still means to everyone, and we owe it all to our player community.

When is the release? There is currently no official release date for The Elder Scrolls 6. The game is expected to be released no earlier than 2026, on the following platforms: PC and Xbox. Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted that a release in 2028 or later is likely.
What else is known: The game is not expected to come to PS5.
