In Genshin Impact, Bennett is known as the “secret 6-star character.” His incredible support and team compatibility make him one of the best characters in the game. We at MeinMMO will show you how to utilize him perfectly as a support.
Who is Bennett? Bennett is a sword user of the Pyro element and is always searching for new adventures. Unfortunately, he is plagued by bad luck and constantly finds himself in dire situations. No group wants to take him on explorations, as only negative things happen when he is around.
Bennett is now a staple character in Genshin Impact and has been around since the release. Here, you can let nostalgia wash over you and catch glimpses of Bennett from the early days:
Through the main points, you can easily jump to the sections that interest you the most.

Bennett’s abilities – Healing and boosting combined
What attacks and abilities does he have? As a standard attack, Bennett can perform up to five sword strikes. With his powerful blow, he swings his sword twice quickly forward.
An important ability of Bennett is his elemental skill “Overflowing Capacity.” It has a low cooldown of five seconds and becomes relevant when he needs to charge his special ability. When you execute this attack normally, Bennett swings his sword once forward, dealing Pyro damage. If you hold down the button to trigger the ability, the attack behaves differently:
- Charge Level 1: Launches enemies away and deals Pyro damage (7.5 seconds cooldown)
- Charge Level 2: Spins around and finishes the Pyro attack with an explosion that knocks him and his enemies back. Bennett takes no damage from this (10 seconds cooldown)
What most defines Bennett, however, is his special ability “Fantastic Voyage.” When he uses this attack, a Pyro field is created that possesses the following characteristics:
- Heals the active party member constantly when they have 70% or fewer health points (HP). Based on Bennett’s maximum HP.
- If the active party member has more than 70% HP, their attack, based on Bennett’s base attack, is increased.
- Grants the active character the Pyro attribute.
- Duration: 12 seconds and cooldown: 15 seconds.
Important constellations – “Adventurous Spirit”
What do the constellations grant? Constellations unlock new abilities and/or stats for characters. This list shows you the most important constellations and what bonuses they bring you.
- 1st constellation (C1) “Adventurous Spirit”: Removes the HP limitation for the attack increase from “Fantastic Voyage” and increases the value by 20% of Bennett’s base attack. The C1 of Bennett is among the best in the entire game. By removing this limitation, he can regularly boost the attack of his teammates with enough charge rate.
- 2nd constellation (C2) “Escape from Despair”: Increases the charge rate by 30% when Bennett has less than 70% HP.
- 5th constellation (C5) “Explorer Spirit”: Increases the level of the special ability by 3. The maximum level is 15. C5 further strengthens the special ability. Additionally, the attack increase for team members and HP regeneration is enhanced.
The 6th constellation (C6) should be approached with caution, as it grants all characters standing in the field of “Fantastic Voyage” and wielding one-handed swords, two-handed swords, or polearms the Pyro power. This can negatively affect characters on whom you do not want to perform Pyro attacks but rather neutral, physical damage (e.g., Razor). However, if you mainly pair Bennett with other Pyro attackers, such as Xiangling, Diluc, or Yoimiya, this can have a positive effect as C6 simultaneously increases Pyro damage by 15%.
It is important to say that Bennett is also an incredibly good support character without constellations. However, if you have the opportunity, definitely unlock at least C1 to maximize his potential.
Talents of Bennett
Which talents should you level up first? With Bennett as your support, you should first level up his special ability to expand his buff and heal capabilities further. You also increase the damage to enemies that you deal by triggering “Fantastic Voyage.”
You can also upgrade his elemental ability to deal more damage to enemies while charging Bennett’s special ability. It is also worthwhile to level up Bennett to level 70, as his two passive talents are very useful. “Flame Burst” and “Fearlessness” reduce the cooldown of his elemental ability, making it last only 2 seconds instead of 5 seconds.
This, in turn, allows you to charge “Fantastic Voyage” faster. However, “Fearlessness” is only activated when Bennett is within the field of his special ability. If he is not, you will have a cooldown of 4 seconds with the passive talent “Flame Burst.”
Suitable weapons for Bennett
Which weapons can bring out the best in Bennett? Since he benefits from both base attack and charge rate, you need to look at what your Bennett needs most. The weapon is, besides character leveling, the only effective way to increase Bennett’s base attack.
The following 4-star weapons can also be equipped due to their high base attack:
The “Sacrificial Sword” and the “Favonius Sword” can also be equipped if charge rate is more important to you. Keep in mind that the attack boost from the special ability is lower with these two 4-star weapons compared to the other two.
What free-to-play alternatives are there? The best alternative based on base attack is the “Stonecutter Prototype,” which you can craft at the blacksmith.
If you participated in the event about the Dragon Ridge, you also have the opportunity to equip the “Sword of Corruption” on Bennett. While it has 55 less base attack compared to the “Stonecutter Prototype” at level 90, it has charge rate as a sub-stat.
If you are just starting the game, you can use weapons like “Traveler’s Sword” or “Skyward Sword.”
If your one-handed sword has the attack percentage bonus as a second stat, it does nothing for the attack boost of the special ability.
Artifacts that benefit Bennett
Which artifacts bring the most to Bennett? The best set for a support Bennett is “Old Court Ritual”:
- 2-piece set bonus: Increases damage dealt with special abilities by 20%
- 4-piece set bonus: After using special abilities, the attack of all party members is increased by 20% for 12 seconds. This effect is not stackable.
With this set, Bennett further increases the attack of the other team members after he has used his special ability.
There is often discussion about whether the artifact set “Emblem of Severed Fates” is also an alternative:
- 2-piece set bonus: Increases charge rate by 20%
- 4-piece set bonus: Increases damage dealt by special abilities based on 25% of charge rate. A bonus of up to 75% is possible this way.
If you want to play Bennett as a support, this set is not recommended, as the 4-piece set bonus does not strengthen the other team members but only himself. If you play him as (sub)DPS, the set could be worthwhile. However, there are competitors like the “Burning Pyro Witch” set. To increase charge rate, you can alternatively equip the “Banished” set:
- Increases charge rate by 20%
- Restores 2 elemental energy points to all party members every 2 seconds for 6 seconds when using special abilities. This effect does not apply to Bennett himself and is not stackable.
What stats are important for artifacts? You should pay attention to ensuring that all artifacts have charge rate as a sub-stat, if possible. The more charge rate Bennett has, the more often he can use his special ability. On the hourglass, you should have charge rate as the main stat. Aim to achieve at least 180% – 200% charge rate.
Everything above 200% depends on your playstyle. Do you switch Bennett out immediately after using the special ability, or do you use his elemental ability regularly right after? Are you patient and wait for him to gather all elemental particles after using his elemental ability, or do you switch to another character? These are all questions whose answers determine how much charge rate you actually need.
Since his healing scales with the number of his health points, it is worthwhile to have HP as the main stat on the chalice. If the healing is already sufficient for your team, you can alternatively give him a Pyro damage bonus chalice.
You can combine the chalice with the HP main stat with a crown that has healing bonus as the main stat. If you previously opted for the chalice with the Pyro damage bonus, then depending on which stat you need more, critical rate or critical damage may be useful.
Bennett in teams
Which characters harmonize with Bennett? In short: with everyone. You can place Bennett in any team, and he will be of great benefit to your other team members. He can support any main DPS without issues. With Bennett’s support build, you are not building a team around Bennett, but a team with Bennett. However, we want to introduce you to some characters that particularly benefit from Bennett and why:
- Mona/Childe
- To boost their special ability and trigger the “Vaporize” reaction
- Xiangling
- Benefits from Bennett’s elemental ability, as he can quickly and reliably collect elemental particles for her. Also, her elemental and special abilities carry the attack buff from Bennett’s special ability once cast on his field. If the duration of Bennett’s special ability expires but Xiangling’s abilities are still active, the attack buff from Bennett remains until they expire as well.
- Beidou
- Her special ability works well with Bennett’s special ability, as she should ideally stay in place.
- Xiao
- Benefits from the healing and attack buff in the field, as he loses health points through his special ability.
Team examples, Team 1:
- Diluc
- As main DPS
- Saccharose/Kazuha
- Equipped with the “Greener Shade” set, reduces resistance after a swirl against the element that the opponent is affected by.
- Mona/Xingqiu
- Support with their special attack and Hydro applications. Both for extra damage.
- Bennett
- Attack boost, healing for everyone and “Vaporize” support for Mona.
Team 2:
- Ganyu
- As main DPS
- Venti/Kazuha/Saccharose
- To draw enemies together and/or reduce resistance through “Greener Shade”
- Zhongli
- The team’s defense is reinforced with his shield.
- Bennett
- Attack boost, healing for everyone and “Melt” support for Ganyu.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that Bennett is a character with unique abilities, and there is no suitable alternative to him as an individual character.
What do you think about this support build of Bennett? Do you take him on your adventures, or do you prefer other supporters? Do you have other team suggestions that work fantastic for you? Feel free to share them with the community in the comments.
