Blizzard changes the loot in the current raid of World of Warcraft. The reason for this is players leaving early.
In World of Warcraft the latest wing of the Battle of Dazar’alor is open since today. Here players can defeat the last three bosses and earn good loot. However, since a special item dropped from the first boss, this caused issues. Blizzard quickly pushed a hotfix and changed the loot table – but only for the “LFR difficulty”.
What item is it about? The boss High Engineer Mekkadrill can leave a very special mount, the G.M.O.D. (“Gallywix’ Mechaoberdampfhammer”). This mech is quite stylish and is desired by many players. However, on the first day of the last wing’s opening, Blizzard changed Mekkadrill’s loot table. From now on, the G.M.O.D. in LFR only drops from Lady Jaina Proudmoore, the final boss of the raid.
Why was this changed? The reason for the hotfix is the collapse of LFR raid groups. Many players want to join the raid just to get this mount. This means they stay for the first fight (Mekkadrill) and then leave the group. With the hotfix, Blizzard forces players to stay until the end of the raid and actually defeat all three bosses to have a chance at the mount.
On the other difficulty levels, the G.M.O.D. will still be left by High Engineer Mekkadrill.
What do you think of this change? Is it a good thing that Blizzard is improving this to keep all players in the raid until the end? Or should there be better methods for that?
