The first beta weekend of Battlefield 6 has passed and the shooter has already excited many fans, but an important feature was missing – the server browser. Why it is so important and when it will be added, you can find out here.
What is the server browser? Currently, there is only the option to start a match in Battlefield 6 to join a lobby – maps are completely random. However, many fans wished for the ability to join ongoing matches using a server browser, where they know what map they will land on.
The server browser acts like a large list, in which ongoing matches are listed that you can join.
This feature is expected to be available soon, but fans could not test it in the beta, as it is not yet unlocked. A developer from Battlefield 6 has now explained where the feature is and how it will be implemented in the shooter.
You will soon be able to test the feature
What has been revealed? The Battlefield Lead Producer, David Sirland, spoke on X and shared some details about Battlefield 6, including the server browser. Many fans expressed their concerns regarding the feature, as it was suspected that the server browser is firmly embedded in the portal – another feature that faced great unpopularity in Battlefield 2042 and will also be present in Battlefield 6.
However, David Sirland clarified and said the following: “Just to clarify: It’s the same. There are no ‘portal servers’. If you run a server with Conquest on Siege of Cairo, it works the way you want it to. More details will follow later.”
How is the server browser supposed to work? Overall, there should be the option to either join existing matches or even create a server yourself. David Sirland stated the following: “We believe that the current setup offers the best of both worlds, as you can choose to either bring up a server through regular matchmaking, find an already running server, or create your own. We will be testing the server browser soon, so you can try it out.”
When will the server browser be tested? The developer said “soon.” However, soon can stretch quite far and mean a few days or even weeks. Battlefield 6 will still have two beta weekends. So it could very well be that DICE unlocks the feature during one of those weekends for you to test – but that is not confirmed yet.
